Lionel Messi and Antonela Roccuzzo’s love story is no less than any fairytale story. Their love story began in Rosario, Argentina. Lionel Messi was 9 years old, when he first met Antonela through his best friend, Lucas Scaglia, who was Antonela's cousin. Messi often used to see Antonela, when he visited Lucas' house. Without talking much, Messi knew she was the one for him. He also wrote a letter which said:

"One day we will get engaged."

However, their young love and relationship was disturbed, as life took Messi to Spain, when he joined FC Barcelona's youth academy to pursue football professionally. The distance became an issue as Antonela was still in Rosario, growing up in a completely different world. For a while, they drifted apart, but not for long. 

In 2005, Antonela lost her best friend in a car accident which shattered her world. When Messi got to know about it, he flew back to stay beside her through the tough time. This simple gesture brought them back together. Slowly and gradually, Messi and Antonela managed to be in regular touch, and their bond grew from friendship to romance. Despite Messi's growing popularity, the couple were successful in keeping their relationship private for years. 

During an interview in 2009, Messi admitted that he was in a relationship with his childhood sweetheart, Antonela. This generated quite a lot of buzz, as everyone was eager to know more about the footballer's private life. In 2012, Antonela took a big step to move to Barcelona to live with Messi. In the same year, the couple welcomed their first son, Thiago, and in 2015, they welcomed their second son, Mateo.

On June 30, 2017, the beautiful couple tied the knot in a grand wedding in their hometown, Rosario. Their marriage was considered as the 'wedding of the century.' After their wedding, in 2018, the couple welcomed their third child, Ciro.

Antonela Roccuzzo is known as the wife of the greatest footballer, but she is much more than that. She was born on February 26, 1988, and she is the middle child among three sisters. Even though, she came into the spotlight because of her relationship, she has built her way. She studied dentistry, but later switched to fashion. Antonela co-owns a boutique of Argentine footwear, and has collaborated with several fashion brands on social media. Despite all of her success, she is the biggest support system of Messi.
