'Landman' Season 2 Finale Ending Explained, Is 'Tommy Norris' Fired From The Oil Company, M-Tex?

Landman season 2 has officially come to an end. The finale episode of Landman season 2 premiered on January 18, 2026, only on Paramount+. Within hours of its release, the finale has become one of the most talked-about episodes because of its rawness, bold decisions, emotional depth and powerful performance. What is Landman season 2 all about?

For those who missed the show, Landman season 2 opens with 'Tommy' trying to lead the oil company, M-Tex Oil. However, things are already very disturbed for him as his mother has passed away. While 'Tommy' handles personal loss, 'Cami Miller' is now a major decision-maker, who begins pushing her own ideas about the company. As the episodes progress, 'Tommy' and 'Cami' clash on multiple things. 

'Cami' wants to take aggressive actions to save the company, while 'Tommy' believes in being more cautious as he is aware of past failures. While 'Tommy' is handling several disagreements at work, his son, 'Cooper' gets into a legal trouble after an as***lt on his fiancée, Ariana. The show continues to explore tensions at work as well as the family dynamics of the characters. 

Later, 'Tommy' tries to lead and handle the company, M-Tex’s future. On the other hand, he also trains his son, 'Cooper' in the same. Eventually, characters like 'Rebecca', a lawyer and 'Gallino', an external player, show how complex the world of oil is. However, the major twist comes in the last episode of Landman season, when 'Tommy' is fired from M-Tex.

Landman season 2 ending explained, spoilers ahead

The final episode of Landman season 2 is titled Tragedy and Flies. The finale episode opens with 'Cami' firing 'Tommy' from his position as the president of  M-Tex Oil. 'Cami' is fed up with multiple disagreements with him, which led her to make this decision. However, this is a major shift as 'Tommy' is no longer a part of the company that he built. 

Despite the shock, 'Tommy' stands strong as negotiates with authorities to clear 'Cooper's' legal issues. He also supports his family. Eventually, 'Tommy' decides to start his own oil company with his son and his father, 'T.L'. The finale ends on a hopeful and positive note, suggesting a new and strong beginning for 'Tommy'. The episode ends with 'Tommy' and his wife, 'Angela' sharing a quiet moment. 

Is there a season 3 of Landman?

The popular show, Landman has been renewed for a season three. For those who do not know, the makers had announced another season almost a month ago. However, it is worth mentioning that the filming of Landman season 3 has not yet begun. Reportedly, season 3 is expected to premiere in November 2026. It is also worth noting that the main cast, including Billy Bob Thornton, Andy Garcia, Demi Moore and more will be reprising their roles in season 3. 

In late 2025, Billy Bob Thornton sat down for a candid chat with Men's Journal, during which he opened up about Landman season 3. He had shared that season 1 is full of action, while season 2 explores relationships, so viewers can expect things to ramp up in season 3. For the unversed, Landman is created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace. In the 2025 interview, Billy was quoted as saying:

"I have a feeling a lot of things are really going to ramp up (in Season 3). Because the first season was so full of action stuff and danger. The second season was full of the family and business relationships. It’s just a guess, but I’d imagine things will come to a head."
