Meet BB 19 Contestant Kunickaa Sadanand, Failed Marriages, Custody Battle, Affair With Kumar Sanu

Actress Kunickaa Sadanand is one of the contestants on Bigg Boss 19, and she recently entered the show with a bang. Welcoming the talented actress, Salman Khan revealed that he has known her for a long time. She has previously worked with Bigg Boss 19 host Salman Khan in films like Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya and Hum Saath Saath Hain.

As Kunickaa is all set to star in the reality show, the actress’s personal life again got into the limelight. Kunickaa Sadanand’s personal life has often garnered the limelight. Be it her failed marriages, tumultuous affair with Kumar Sanu or being a single parent, Kunickaa has seen and lived it all.

Kunickaa Sadanand’s acting stint

Kunickaa’s acting career began in Delhi, where she appeared in several TV shows. It was Asrani’s wife who gave Kunickaa her first major break as an actress. Her breakthrough role came with Swabhimaan, in which she played the role of a mother to an 18-year-old. She began her film career at the age of 28 and was seen playing negative and bold characters in films like Beta, Gumraah and Khiladi.

Though she played both positive and negative characters, she is remembered for playing Reema Lagoo’s friend, 'Shanti' in the Rajshri films’ blockbuster, Hum Saath-Saath Hain. Throughout her 25-year acting career, she acted in 110 films.

Kunickaa’s first failed marriage with a man 13 years elder to her 

Kunickaa’s personal life has never been a bed of roses. The actress fell in love with a man who was 13 years older to her. She was just 18 when she tied the knot with a man from Delhi and the couple soon became parents. However, within a year of their marriage, there were problems since Kunickaa couldn’t adjust in a joint family. Soon she walked out of the home with her son and filed for divorce.

Kunickaa fought an eight-year-long custody battle

After filing for divorce, Kunickaa fought for the custody battle of her son. The battle went on for eight long years and it was one of the most devastating times for her. By that time, her son had turned 14 and he urged his mother to give up as he was suffering a lot amid his parents' legal battle. After witnessing her child’s condition, Kunickaa decided to give up and her son’s custody went to her husband.

Kunickaa Sadanand’s live-in relationship with a legendary actor’s son

After her first failed marriage, Kunickaa decided to give love another chance. She fell in love with legendary actor, Pran’s son, Sunil Sikand and the couple soon started living in together. Their relationship was passionate and full of adventures. But since both were young, the relationship was unstable. After living together for some time, the actress realised that it was not fruitful and decided to call it quits.

Kunickaa Sadanand’s second failed marriage and life as a single mother

At the age of 35, Kunickaa gave love another chance and got married to a man from the United States. After marriage, she shifted her base to the US and was soon blessed with a baby boy. However, she didn’t want to restrict herself as a homemaker and missed her life in Mumbai and shifted back.

Her second marriage too couldn’t stand the test of time. Kunickaa and her second husband got amicably divorced in 2006. This time, she didn’t have to fight for the custody of her son and continued to live happily with her son raising him as a single mother.

Kunickaa Sadanand’s turbulent affair with an already married singer, Kumar Sanu

It was in 90s, when Kunickaa Sadanand came into the limelight after rumours of her affair with singer Kumar Sanu surfaced in the media. Sanu was already married and going through a rough patch in his marriage when he met Kunickaa. He found solace in her company and found peace. Soon they fell in love and she started travelling with him all over the world for his concerts.

She was playing the duties of being the better-half perfectly by managing his finances, his bills and his responsibilities towards his family. In an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, the actress revealed that Sanu was in a very disturbed state when she met him for the first time. However, they developed feelings for each other and she was like a wife to him. In her words:

“I was like a wife to him. I considered him my husband."

Kumar Sanu’s wife smashed Kunickaa Sadanand’s car

Over the five years that they were in touch, Kunickaa and Kumar shared a strong bond, with her even motivating him to focus on his fitness and fashion while he was at his peak. However, problems arose in Kunickaa and Kumar's bond when the latter's then-wife, Rita, came into the picture. Rita was furious because there was a delay in the payment of the child support she was owed. So, in a fit of rage, Rita smashed Kunickaa's car with a hockey stick. Although Kunickaa and Kumar shared a strong bond, their relationship wasn't meant to last long. After dating for a rather short period, the duo decided to part ways.
