Kelly Clarkson announced yesterday that she will be pausing the remainder of her August Studio Session residency. The singer had taken this decision, stating her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, was ill and she needed to be present for her children. However, a few hours later, the tragic news broke out that the music talent manager had passed away, and now Kelly is devastated for her children.
Kelly Clarkson continues to prioritise her and Brandon Blackstock's two children after the latter passed away on August 7, 2025, after facing cancer for three years privately. The duo share two children, River, who is 11, and Remington, who is 9. According to a report by PEOPLE, a source close to Kelly had shared:
"When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake. Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She’s been devastated for the kids."
Kelly Clarkson filed for a divorce from Brandon Blackstone in 2020 after seven years of marriage. Their divorce was finalised in 2022, and while it was acrimonious, the two were later involved in various legal proceedings. The source says that Kelly knew the importance of her children's relationship with their father and hence always tried to maintain that respect for him. The source was quoted as saying:
"The divorce was incredibly difficult for her — messy, painful and something she felt terrible about. But she always wanted her kids to have the best relationship possible with their dad. She never spoke poorly about Brandon to the kids."
A family rep shared the tragic news with the world on August 7, 2025. The statement revealed that Brandon had bravely fought cancer for more than three years. However, after a prolonged battle, he passed away peacefully. According to reports, the talent manager had spent the last few days of his life surrounded by his family, including his ex-wife, Kelly, their kids, and his former stepmom, Reba McEntire.
Brandon had not publicly shared his diagnosis prior to his death, though Kelly revealed that he was 'ill' in a statement hours before his death. The statement could be read as:

Kelly took to her social media accounts on August 7, 2025 (IST), and shared a note stating that she will be taking a break from her residency in Las Vegas to be with her family. Kelly had announced that she is postponing the remainder of her August 2025 dates playing the Colosseum at Caesars Palace amid her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock's illness.
