Meet Kash Patel: Donald Trump's FBI Director Pick, Indian-Origin Lawyer, 'Jai Shri Krishna' Remark

Kashyap Pramod Vinod Patel, better known as Kash Patel, is a prominent American lawyer who is US President, Donald Trump's FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) Director pick. After registering a huge win in November, Trump had made it clear that he would fire the then-FBI chief, Christopher Wray. Soon after his statement, Wray resigned, and now it seems like Kash Patel is on the verge of leading the FBI for the next few years.

On January 30, 2025, Kash Patel faced the US Senate Judiciary Committee at Capitol Hill for the much-awaited confirmation hearing for the position of Director of the FBI. During the Senate confirmation hearing, Kash Patel's parents, Pramod and Anjana, were also in attendance, and the doting son greeted them with 'Jai Shri Krishna'. After completing his hearing, Kash also touched the feet of his parents to take their blessings and once again embraced his Indian roots on the global stage.

The 44-year-old lawyer of Indian origin, Kash Patel, soon started trending on multiple social media platforms for his greeting remark, 'Jai Shri Krishna'. While Indians were feeling proud to see Kash Patel embracing his roots, some Americans opposed the idea of bringing too many Indians into Trump's leadership. Talking about Kash Patel's Indian roots, he was born on February 25, 1980, in New York to Gujarati parents.

Talking about the professional background of Kash Patel's father, Pramod Patel worked as a financial officer at an aviation firm. Despite living in the US, Pramod made sure to give his son an Indian upbringing, where he was taught deeply about the Hindu faith and culture. Moving on to his educational background, Kash has a graduation degree in history and criminal justice, a Doctor of Law degree and a certificate in international law.

In an interview with Kash Patel's uncle, Premsharan Amin revealed that his nephew is strongly inclined towards his Hindu faith. Amin further added that Kash has a separate temple space in his Washington apartment. He also added that Kash is a devotee of Lord Shiva, God Hanuman and Lord Ganesha. Not only this, Amin revealed that while the entire world knows his nephew by the name 'Kash', their entire family calls him 'Kashyap'. He said:

"Kashyap is a devotee of Shiv, Hanuman and Ganesh. At his apartment in Washington DC, he has a separate temple space dedicated to the gods…He is known as 'Kash' across the world, but for the family, he is Kashyap."

Apart from his professional details and Indian roots, little is known about his personal life in the public domain. It is not known whether he is married or not. Well, it will be interesting to see whether Kash Patel becomes the FBI Director or not, but if he takes up the position, he will be the first Hindu Director of the FBI.
