Karisma Kapoor's life has been a glamorous affair as she has been hailed as the superhit heroine of the '90s. While fans remain enamoured with her acting prowess, her personal life has been a rollercoaster ride. It was in 2002 when she was briefly engaged to Abhishek Bachchan, son of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. However, their broken engagement led many to make assumptions about how they lacked chemistry and more.
Recently, in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Suneel Darshan shared a bomb revelation. He was asked about Karisma and Abhishek's broken engagement. The producer clearly stated that their relationship ended not due to their lack of connection, but rather due to external pressure. He mentioned that it happened due to an outsider. He said:
"Chemistry was there, you have to watch Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya. Their chemistry in the film reflected their real-life bond."
Talking about their broken engagement, Suneel hinted that things turned sour not from their inner space, but due to an outside factor, which he chose not to name. He was quoted as saying:
"Sometimes the issues from outside their inner space created the problems and disturbed the whole thing. I thought everything was good until that point. I still feel both Karisma and Kareena, I will stand by them anytime."
In an old interview with Subhash K Jha, Karisma revealed the traumatic experience after calling off her engagement with Abhishek Bachchan. She said it was time for her to speak up. She stated that the beginning of the year started with a traumatic experience, and she hopes no other girl goes through it. Karisma was quoted as saying:
"It is time I spoke. I owe it to everyone. The beginning of this year was traumatic for me. I wouldn’t wish any girl to go through it. I was forced to deal with my hurt and pain on my own. I guess time is the best healer. Though I have been through a lot, I have come to terms with whatever has happened. All I will say is, whatever is destined is bound to happen. I was emotionally unprepared to confront my problems. Life deals you different cards. You have to just go with the shuffle."
Karisma further thanked the media for their support and understanding in these tough times. She stated that everyone left her alone, but she came out of the trauma due to her parents and sister, Kareena. She said:

"I want to thank the media for being so understanding and supportive. Everyone left me alone. I don’t want to say anything more on this except that I couldn’t have come out my trauma if it wasn’t for my parents [Babita and Randhir Kapoor], sister [Kareena], my Dadiji [Krishna Raj Kapoor], my two Buas [Rima Jain and Ritu Nanda] and my close friends."
After her broken engagement to Abhishek Bachchan, Karisma focused on her acting career, and a year later, she married Sunjay Kapur, a London-based businessman. The couple became parents to two children, Samaira and Kiaan. However, it was in 2014 when Karisma and Sunjay parted ways, and their divorce was finalised in 2016.
