Kanye West is a renowned American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer who rose to fame in the 2000s by producing songs for artists like Jay-Z before launching his own rap career. He sent shockwaves with his debut album, The College Dropout, in 2004, and went on to release some of the most influential albums of the year, including Late Registration, Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Donda.
On September 19, 2025, Kanye West's documentary, In Whose Name, was released, which showcased six years of his life from 2018 to 2024. The documentary film has created a stir on the internet, mainly because it featured both his professional and personal journeys, including his dynamics with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and his ex-mother-in-law, Kris Jenner.
In one of the raw glimpses, Kanye was seen yelling at his ex-mother-in-law, Kris, which created a heated atmosphere. In the heated argument where Kris and Kanye were seen, they were discussing the rapper's mental health and treatment. In Nico Ballesteros' film, a portion of Kanye's life was featured when, back in 2016, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. During the confrontation with Kris, he said that he would 'rather be dead than be on medication'.
In the video, which reportedly followed Kanye's visit to Donald Trump, he told Kris that no one had taken any responsibility for his hospital visit, and at least 50 per cent of people had said so. No sooner did Kris say that 'it doesn't matter', Kanye started yelling at her. Kris clarified that she wanted to say that it doesn't matter what people say on the internet. Following this, Kanye asked Kris if she thinks she had any effect on his mental health. To this, Kris replied that she is saying 'yes' and also that she loves him, and wants her daughter to love him the way he loves her. Kris could be heard saying:
"Yes! I'm saying yes. and I love you. I love you. I don't want you to be not perfect. I love you, and I want my daughter to love you the way you want her to love you."
It was back in 2012, when rumours about Kanye and Kim's relationship began, and although they didn't make it official, hints were there that the duo might have been dating. In 2013, Kanye and his then-pregnant girlfriend, Kim, made their joint appearance on the Met Gala red carpet. In the same year, the duo welcomed their baby girl, North, and shortly after, Kanye proposed to his lady love.
