The dinosaurs are back, and this time, they are bigger, scarier, and definitely smarter than ever. The latest instalment to the multi-billion-dollar Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth, is all set to hit the Indian theatres on July 4, 2025, and this time, the audience can expect a fresh cast, a nostalgic tone, and intense action. Ahead of its theatrical release, early reviews have poured in, and it seems like the latest instalment could be a treat for fans of the OG Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg, which was released in 1993. So, before you book that early show, here’s a roundup of what early viewers are saying about the much-awaited instalment to the iconic dinosaur franchise.
The latest release, Jurassic World Rebirth, is set five years after Jurassic World Dominion (2022), following ‘Zora Benett,’ a hardened extraction specialist played by Scarlett Johansson, and palaeontologist ‘Henry Loomis,’ played by Jonathan Bailey. Rebirth follows the duo as they embark on a high-risk mission to retrieve dinosaur DNA from a research facility on a remote island. This time, they are targeting Mosasaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, and Titanosaurus, three of the deadliest creatures of the prehistoric era.
'Zora' and 'Henry' are on a mission to retrieve these DNA samples for research to cure heart disease with their genetic makeup. However, chaos unfolds when a shipwrecked family stumbles into the operation. To make things worse, the Distortus Rex (D. Rex), a new terrifying predator, is accidentally unleashed. Other than these new monstrous creatures, viewers can expect to find several old favourites from the original movie, such as the T. Rex, Dilophosaurus, and velociraptors.
Even before its official premiere, Jurassic World Rebirth is being hailed as a thrilling return to its original form, together with its jungle chases, intense underwater sequences, and, of course, the isolated science lab in the middle of nowhere. Early viewers are praising director Gareth Edwards for reviving the original flavour of the franchise, not to mention the impressive CGI effects that craft a genuinely suspenseful experience. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote:
“Jurassic World Rebirth is a suspenseful return to form, shot on film with charm from Johansson, Bailey & Ali. Though familiar & a bit uneven, Gareth Edwards delivers dino thrills with style. A fun ride for fans. 7/10.”
Netizens also chimed in with their moving moments and edge-of-your-seat tension that Rebirth brings with its jaw-dropping and ultra-realistic visuals that make it a treat for the franchise’s die-hard fans. Scarlett Johansson’s magnetic presence was also largely appreciated, and Jonathan Bailey received praise for his layered performance as a dino-loving academic who got thrown into the chaos. Users are calling Rebirth a breath of fresh air, together with its nostalgic elements and nail-biting horror. One user tweeted:

“#JurassicWorldRebirth is a welcome breath of fresh air for the Jurassic franchise! This film leans HARD into the horror aspects, very akin to Alien Romulus, and it really works!! The new cast has great chemistry, and Gareth Edwards delivers some GORGEOUS visuals. 8/10.”
Screenwriter David Koepp, who also penned the original Jurassic Park, has returned with a brilliantly balanced character-driven storytelling with high-stakes action. Several viewers and critics noted classic flavours of Steven Spielberg, especially on the terrifying raft sequence adapted from Michael Crichton’s original novel. Some also noted that the ocean sequences reminded them of Jaws, but in a good way.
Alongside the intensely terrifying monstrosities like the mutant dinosaur, D. Rex, Rebirth has also delivered tender moments that melt hearts, such as the puppy-sized herbivore, ‘Dolores.’ The Hollywood Reporter notes:
“Dolores — a puppy-like, animatronic creature known as an aquilops — is so Spielbergian it’s corny. But the sweetness is also disarming.”
As of now, Jurassic World Rebirth holds a modest 58% score on Rotten Tomatoes, already a significant step-up from the 2022 instalment, Dominion. While the reviews are largely positive, some critics noted the film’s opening act as a bit sluggish; regardless, it all pays off at the end.
For fans who had to give up hope after the disappointing past three instalments, Rebirth feels like a breath of fresh air, with all the prehistoric charm that made us fall in love with the franchise. For the OG fans, this might just be the satisfying treat you have been waiting for.
