Famous Bengali actor, and BJP leader, Joy Banerjee left for the heavenly abode on August 25, 2025. At 11:35 in the morning, he took his last breath at the age of 62 at a private hospital. For the unversed, Joy Banerjee had a respiratory ailment for many years, but his condition worsened a few days ago, and he was hospitalised on August 15, 2025. While his family, friends and fans are mourning the late Bengali actor, Joy Banerjee's demise, his first wife, Ananya Banerjee, is no different. Who is Joy Banerjee's first wife, Ananya Banerjee?

Ananya Banerjee is the spokesperson of All India Trinamool Congress. She is also a dedicated social worker and an entrepreneur. She stays extremely busy due to her work commitments and often shares glimpses of her social work projects on her YouTube channel and Instagram.

Joy Banerjee and Ananya Banerjee who were once happily married, parted ways. In an earlier interview in 2020, Joy broke down talking about Soumitra and Sujata's separation due to politics, and different political opinions. He claimed that he also once felt the same storm. He said:

"I am very saddened to see Soumitra-Sujata crying on TV. I am an actor, so I am very sad. The same thing happened in my life one day. I want politics to change. There is no problem in leaders moving from one party to another. But while doing politics, no one's family should be broken! People are taken from other parties to expand the organization, but houses should not be broken."

It is worth mentioning that Joy Banerjee was a BJP leader and started his journey from the 2014 general election. On the other hand, Ananya was part of Trinamul Congress from 2009. Her paternal grandfather had also contested Assembly elections from Kalna, Burdwan, with a Congress ticket. 

How Joy Banerjee and Ananya Banerjee fell in love with each other

Recently, in an interview with Anand Bazaar, Ananya Banerjee revealed that it was Joy's vitality that attracted him. Ananya hails from a conservative, old-fashioned house with rules and regulations. When she met Joy, he swept her away with his simple way of living. She called him her college crush, and her mother would often see his films.

Ananya revealed that despite being a father of a wealthy businessman, he was extremely grounded. He loved his parents, and he wasn't aware of his massive success and never thought much about the numbers. He was the one who could trap someone with his words. 

Ananya Banerjee broke down after hearing the news of his death

Ananya revealed that she has not been able to celebrate pujas for a while. She lost her father during puja, and this year, her ex-husband, Joy Banerjee, passed away before puja. She revealed that he got hospitalised on August 15, 2025, and she has been visiting him in the hospital while taking time out from work. Talking about him, she said:

"I have tried to be there for his mother and the rest of the family, whatever they need. He has been ill for a long time. Lately, he would gasp for breath if he spoke a little. Still, I thought he would come back. He had an indomitable vitality."

While Joy Banerjee decided to restart his life and got married to Ankita Banerjee, Ananya Banerjee never thought of getting married again. She was focused on her career. She also claimed to be in love with Joy Banerjee, her first love, whom she has remained in love with.
