Janhvi Kapoor Gets Emotional As She Recalls Visiting Cannes With Mom, Sridevi, 'It's Weird Coming..'

Janhvi Kapoor hit an important milestone in her career with her debut at the Cannes Film Festival. While it should be one of the happiest moments in the actress' life, she has found herself feeling emotional as she misses her mother and actress, Sridevi. Visiting Cannes has been both a joyous and overwhelming experience for Janhvi. The actress admitted that Cannes was her mother's holiday destination, adding that she feels weird coming to the French Riviera without her.

Janhvi Kapoor recently appeared in a video shared by Vogue India as a part of their Get Ready With Me segment. The video which was shared on Vogue India's YouTube channel, is from Janhvi's debut morning in Cannes. In the clip, the actress talked about her mother, Sridevi, and how Cannes was her mother's favourite place for a holiday. She revealed that they spent three to four consecutive summers in Cannes. She was quoted as saying:

"You know this place was my mom’s favourite place to come to for a holiday. We spent 3-4 consecutive summers here... It was like a big thing with us as a family."

In the same video, Janhvi Kapoor added that every time her mother, Sridevi, would get an award or her father, Boney Kapoor, was filming somewhere, they would always be together as a family. She recalled how they would experience all the life moments together as a family and celebrate. She was quoted as saying:

"Every time mom would do something, every time she was getting an award or her movie (was getting screened somewhere)... I remember English Vinglish premiered at the Toronto Film Festival or when Dad was shooting somewhere...All of these big life moments. We would be together as a family, experience them together, and celebrate."

Janhvi Kapoor revealed it's weird being back in Cannes without her mother, Sridevi

In the same conversation, Janhvi Kapoor revealed that she was in Cannes with her father, Boney Kapoor and sister, Khushi Kapoor. However, it felt weird being back in the city without their mother, Sridevi. She recalled how Sridevi would take her to her big moments, and being here without her mother made her miss her a lot. She was quoted as saying:

"We are back in Cannes. My dad (Boney Kapoor) and Khushi are with me... It is weird coming back here without her, especially because she always took me to her big moments. I miss her a lot."

Janhvi Kapoor paid tribute to her late mother, Sridevi at Cannes

Janhvi Kapoor made her big debut at the Cannes Film Festival and paid her homage to her late mother, Sridevi, with her attire. It was on May 20, 2025, when the actress graced the red carpet in a rose-coloured draped lehenga-saree designed by Tarun Tahiliani. The outfit came with a veil that covered her low bun. She added pearl jewellery to finish the look. For the unversed, Janhvi is attending the event as part of the Homebound team, which also includes Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, director, Neeraj Ghaywan, and producer, Karan Johar.
