Jana Nayagan is currently the talk of the town. The film starring Thalapathy Vijay is scheduled to release theatrically on January 9, 2026. According to the latest reports, this film is marked as the last movie of Vijay as he is all set to retire from his 33-year-old acting career. Ahead of its release, the director, H. Vinoth, slammed Bollywood for not utilising the Aashram actor, Bobby Deol. For the unversed, along with Vijay, the film also stars, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Priyamani and more.

Speaking to Ananda Vikatan, Jana Nayagan director, H. Vinoth criticised Bollywood for not utilising a talented actor like Bobby Deol. He called him 'action-hero material'. The director mentioned that Bobby performed far better in the upcoming film, Jana Nayagan, than he expected. He was quoted as saying:

"I don’t know how Hindi cinema let go of Bobby Deol for so long, because he is pure action-hero material. When writing certain characters, we often wonder how they will come across on screen. In this role, he performed far better than I had ever imagined."

In the same interview, H. Vinoth shared that Bobby is naturally quiet, but when it comes to the screen, he leaves a strong impact. He expressed his wish to work with him in a Hindi action film. Sharing how much he liked working with Bobby in Jana Nayagan, the director said:

"Bobby is naturally quiet, but on screen, he scores big and leaves a strong impact. If I get a chance to make a Hindi film, I would definitely want to do an action film with him. That’s how much I liked working with him."

On December 8, 2025, Bobby took to his Instagram handle and penned a lengthy note wishing his father a Happy Birthday. An excerpt from his note can be read as:

"Mere Pyaare Papa aur Hamare Pyaare Dharam, aapki soch main yeh likh raha hoon. Duniya mein itna pyaar nahi jitna aapne hum sabhi ko diya. Har muskurahat, har tapakte aansoo mein saath nibhaya, Har mushkil mein haath badhaya. Us tarah jis tarah sirf hum sab ke Dharam kar sakte the. Proud to be yours. Happy Birthday, my precious Papa. Love you forever and always."
