The Halloween-themed episode of Dancing With the Stars Season 34 turned out to be one of the most surprising and emotionally charged nights of the season. Amid spooky costumes, eerie lighting, and thrilling performances, fans were left stunned when one of the top-performing couples, Jan Ravnik and Jen Affleck, was unexpectedly eliminated during the October 28 episode. In the spooky special, Jan and Jen fully embraced the Halloween theme. They danced a contemporary number to Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do.
The performance earned them 34 points from the judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough, and guest judge Cheryl Burke. They also received bonus points from the ‘Dance Monster-thon’ segment, placing them seventh on the leaderboard for the night. Despite their solid scoring, Jan and Jen landed in the bottom three alongside Andy Richter, Emma Slater, Elaine Hendrix, and Alan Bersten. In a dramatic reveal, the judges chose to save Andy & Emma, resulting in Jan and Jen’s early exit, much to everyone’s surprise. Jan responded to the elimination and called her partner, a rockstar. Jennifer Affleck responded emotionally after elimination:
“This experience has meant everything to me. I cannot wait to talk about this with my kids in the future. I did this for my kids, and I’m so grateful for the experience.”

The reaction from fans and fellow contestants was swift. On social media, the elimination was labelled the biggest shock of the season. Many viewers questioned how a couple who delivered one of the strongest performances could be voted off, especially given the Halloween-night build-up and their thematic choreography.

The incident left fans in shock and furious, one wrote, “Jen's best dance to date and they were robbed. Can clearly see judges have their favorites.” One of the users felt Jen was being targeted and wrote, “Her best dance and scores did not show it genuinely seems like she’s being targeted.”
