Indore's Couple Tie The Knot On May 11, Goes Missing From Meghalaya, Still Untraceable After 5 Days

The newly married couple of Indore, Madhya Pradesh went missing from Meghalaya after 12 days of their marriage. Earlier this month, the couple tied the knot. According to the India Today report, the couple went missing from Meghalaya while they were on their honeymoon. This is the case of tourists going missing from East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya.

Who is the newly married couple who went missing?

Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam is the resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. On May 11, 2025, Raja and Sonam tied the knot. Raja is a transport businessman. However, little did they know that after 12 days of their big day, a mishap would happen. According to multiple reports, the couple’s family could connect with them last on May 23, 2025. Since then the duo went missing from East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya.

A massive search operation was launched following the couple’s missing

According to a report by PTI, the East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem told them that a group of more than 50 people had been divided into 10 teams, along with the villagers and members of the village defence party, who were appointed in the massive search operation. On May 27, 2025, the massive search operation started and later got suspended after sunset. According to The Times Now report, the same operation resumed on May 28, 2025.

When and where was the couple last spotted?

According to the Times Now report, on May 23, 2025, the couple was last spotted, when the duo checked out of a homestay at Nongriat, a village area in Meghalaya and went to Mawlakhait village. As per a report by PTI, the couple didn’t take any guide, and their mobile phones were last detected in the same area.

As per a report by India Today, the duo travelled to Shillong via Guwahati and rented an Activa scooter to visit Sohra, roughly 60 km away. The rented vehicle was later found abandoned at Sohrarim village, Meghalaya, on May 23, 2025. Since May 24, 2025, the couple’s mobile phone remained switched off.

Madhya Pradesh CM, Dr. Mohan Yadav tweeted sharing concerns about the newlywed couple

Sharing his concerns for the newly married couple, who went missing on their honeymoon, Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Dr. Mohan Yadav, tweeted. Taking to his X handle (formerly Twitter), the CM shared that he spoke to Meghalaya’s Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma, over the phone about the couple. He requested Meghalaya’s CM to take the necessary steps to find out the duo who went missing. He also wished for the couple’s safe return. Sharing his concerns for the couple, Mohan wrote:

"The news of Indore residents and newlyweds Raja and his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi going missing in Osra Hills of Shillong while touring Meghalaya is extremely worrying. In this regard, I spoke to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma over the phone and discussed the matter and requested for quick and effective action. The Chief Minister (of Meghalaya) assured that his police and administration were seriously trying to find out the location of the newlyweds. I have instructed senior officials of Madhya Pradesh to remain in constant touch and coordinate with the Meghalaya administration in this matter."
