Ileana D'Cruz Reveals Why Despite Being Exhausted She Didn't Keep Nanny For Her Sons, 'So Afraid..'

Bollywood actress, Ileana D'Cruz, has maintained a pretty low profile ever since she stepped into the US and made parenting her utmost focus as well as priority. The actress is happily married to Michael Dolan, and with their two sons, they stay in Houston, Texas. Illeana recently revealed why she chose not to hire a nanny and instead became a hands-on mom to care for her kids. Her son, Koa Phoenix Dolan, was born on August 1, 2023, and the pair was blessed with another son, Keanu Rafe Dolan, who entered their lives on June 19, 2025.

Ileana D'Cruz reveals why she did not keep a nanny for her kids

Ileana came on an Instagram Live related to Freedom To Feed and spoke to actress, Neha Dhupia. She revealed enjoying her motherhood journey and expressed how she did not want to keep a nanny but instead manage her kids on her own, even when she was completely exhausted. Ileana shared that she liked to be a hands-on mother and did not want to lose touch with the daily lives of her kids. Illeana did explain why she and her husband managed to take care of the kids despite having a busy schedule. In her words:

"We don't have help and the good thing about being in Bombay (Mumbai) is that you do have access to a lot more help. And you have access to just so many things, like, you know, my friends are there and it's home in a way, far more than what Houston is at the moment. But I think what was nice about being here (in the US) is the privacy of it all. It was just nice to sort of be in my own little bubble.”

Ileana shared how she wished that every mother needed a partner who was as supportive as Mike (Michael Dolan) has been. The Barfi actress shared that he has just been there from day one, no matter what it was. And he sat her down and told her that if she needed help, it would be figured out. In the words of Illeana:

 "We will get help. We will get therapy. If you need someone to come in and be a nanny, we can get a nanny'. I'm like, 'No, we don't want a nanny. I don't want a nanny'. So, I think it's been interesting.”

Ileana D'Cruz reveals the pros of raising kids without having nannies

Whether parents want to raise kids with or without the help of nannies is something that is decided based on the principles, values, priorities and circumstances that one has. However, according to the actress, the most important thing was to find a balance that worked towards the well-being of the family and was also good for the kids. Ileana wants to be involved in her kids' lives and teach them values without a nanny. She said:

"I think somewhere I wanted to sort of be this hands-on mother and yeah, we have the option of like, you know, maybe hiring a nanny here (in the US) as well, but I didn't want to do it. And I think it comes from the place where I'm just, I'm so afraid of letting go. It's that control of like watching my children and taking care of them."
