'Hoppers' Trailer, Pixar Serves 'Avatar' Nostalgia In New Adventure Film, And Fans Are Loving It

Hoppers is an American animated science fiction adventure comedy film. The movie is written by Daniel Chog, and the cutesy 'Hoppers' will be voiced by stars including Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm. The film was first announced in December 2022 and is scheduled for release in 2026. However, the film's makers have recently released the trailer, and it is every bit lovable.

Hoppers follows the story of 'Mabel Tanaka', an animal-loving 19-year-old college girl whose mind is transferred into a robotic beaver. The film will follow the ambitious tale of a girl who wants to stop a construction company's plot to destroy the local animal habitat. Pixar released the trailer for the film on July 17, 2025, giving viewers an insight into the whimsical and emotionally rich adventure set deep within the animal kingdom. The movie is slated to release in India on March 6, 2026.

The trailer traces 'Mabel Tanaka's' leap from campus life to the heart of the wilderness. However, as the film progresses, it becomes entangled in the complex politics of the forest. She will soon find herself fighting a tough battle with a flamboyant bear named 'King George', voiced by American actor and comedian, Bobby Moynihan. The duo will clash with the cunning and power-hungry 'Mayor Jerry', who is voiced by the Mad Man fame, Jon Hamm. What begins as an undercover operation soon evolves into a moving story about identity, purpose, and our connection to nature.

Netizens react to the film, Hoppers trailer

Fans are already excited to watch the adventure unfold. A comment read, "I just met them and I love ALL the characters." Another penned, "Finally! Just a fun film we want to watch! Don't even care about the Avatar similarity- this is a different take for sure!" A comment read, "THE TEASER POSTER AND THE TEASER TRAILER POSTER HAVE FINALLY BEEN RELEASED. OMG IT'S SO GOOD." A commenter wrote, "HOPPERS is here & it looks like a lot of fun! Great energy. Know a few people who saw a test screening of this a while back, and their biggest takeaway was how fun and funny it was. Reminded them of Bugs' life."

A few have noticed that the animation style is similar to Turning Red, their other 2022 movie, while others disagree. A user wrote, "This style looks actually slightly different for once." Another penned, "It's literally a new art style and people are still gonna say it looks the same." A comment read, "You all need to stop sleeping on Pixar’s next upcoming animated original #HOPPERS, the environmentalist message still seems to be in the film. And judging by the plot and art style, it's going to be Amazing!!"

Hoppers is being produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. The animation is done by Daniel Chong, who returned to Pixar after completing his Cartoon Network project, We Bare Bears, and the release of the 2020 film, We Bare Bears: The Movie. It was during the D23 event in 2024 when Pixar's chief creative officer, Pete Docter, announced that the film would be titled Hoppers. Shortly after, Jesse Andrews revealed that she had been working on the film for three years. With months before the release, fans are left thrilled to see what the film will have in store.
