Hema Malini's Decision Of Not Attending Dharmendra's Prayer Meet, 'If Somebody Said Something To..'

Dharmendra's passing left the entire nation in shock in November 2025. However, all eyes were on veteran actor's two families, who were in immense pain. But eyes were raised when Hema Malini did not attend a prayer meet hosted by Dharmendra's first wife, Prakash Kaur, and sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Now, the Gaiety Galaxy owner called it a good decision. 

Hema Malini made the right decision not to attend the prayer meet 

The owner of Gaiety Galaxy revealed that Hema Malini did the right thing by not attending the prayer meet hosted by the Deol family. In an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Manoj Desai liked Hema Malini's decision and stated that, before any controversy, she had hosted a separate prayer meet for him. The theatre owner further stated that it was good she didn't attend the prayer meet, as if someone had said something to her, the event would have turned messy. He was quoted as saying:

"Before any controversy or such talk could happen, she organised a separate prayer meet for him. It was good that she didn't come. Hema and Dharmendra ji were very close, but if somebody had said something to her, the whole prayer meet would have been messed up. So it was good that she organised a prayer meet separately."

Talking about the prayer meet hosted by Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, Manoj Desai revealed that there was a large queue outside the venue. The event had bhajans, and the whole of Bollywood was there to pay their respect. He met Sunny Deol and left for the front gate. 

Hema Malini hosted a prayer meet for Dharmendra in Delhi

Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89. His first family hosted a prayer meet and called it a 'Celebration of life'. However, Hema Malini and her daughters remained absent from it. On December 11, 2025, Hema Malini hosted a prayer meet with a gathering held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre on Janpath. The event was attended by their daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Her close friends, colleagues, and admirers came to pay their respects.

Hema Malini arrived at the event and attended to the guests for the midday ceremony. She kept her focus on praying for the departed soul and remembering and honouring Dharmendra's cinematic legacy. The function started at 4 p.m., and tributes were poured in for Dharmendra. The ceremony was also attended by Esha Deol's ex-husband, Bharat Takhtani. 

Dharmendra's prayer meet in Mumbai hosted by Prakash Kaur and their children

Dharmendra's first wife, Prakash Kaur, and her children, Sunny, Bobby, Ajeeta, and Vijeeta, held a prayer meet for the late actor on November 27, 2025, in Mumbai. It was attended by celebrities such as Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff, and Sidharth Malhotra.

However, Hema Malini and her family remained missing. On the same day, the veteran actress organised a puja for him. Celebrities such as Mahima Chaudhry and Sunita Ahuja attended it. It is worth mentioning that Hema Malini and her daughters, Esha and Ahana were missing from Dharmendra's asthi visarjan.
