HBO's New 'Hermione Granger', Arabella Stanton Leaves Netizens Impressed With Her Audition Video

Harry Potter is a series of seven novels written by JK Rowling, which was later turned into a film franchise by Warner Bros. Seeing the love for the series, the makers announced the return of the popular franchise, but this time as a television series, which left the fans excited. However, with the new lead trio revealed, fans were a little uncertain if the makers had made the right choice.

Since the makers revealed the cast for the upcoming Harry Potter web series, fans have been at odds about the casting of the lead trio. For the unversed, HBO announced the cast on their Instagram handle on the late night of May 27, 2025 (IST) and introduced the world to Dominic McLaughlin, who will essay the role of the legendary young wizard, 'Harry Potter', Arabella Stanton will mark her debut as 'Hermione Granger' and Alastair Stout will play the role of, 'Ron Weasley'. However, Arabella has now proved her mattle to the netizens with an old audition clip that has surfaced online.

An audition video of Arabella Stanton has been circulating online, which has taken the netizens by surprise. The young actress in the tape can be seen confidently delivering her dialogue with the utmost clarity, emotions and expressions. Her strong British accent reminded the netizens of the OG 'Hermione Granger' aka, Emma Watson, assuring the fans that the makers have indeed made the right choice for the young cast.

As soon as the video was shared online, netizens started chiming in to share their views on the same. A user penned, "She will be such an amazing Hermione." Another wrote, "HUGE HP FAN, CAN’T WAIT. THIS GIRL GOT THE HERMOINE SASS!" A comment read, "OMG, she is Hermione." A commenter said, "I don’t want to hear a single word against her. She is going to be fantastic." A user was quoted as saying, "Not a fan of the remake project, but she seems like a great cast!" Another user asked the fans to protect these kids from the trolls and wrote, "Protect these kids at all cost!! She is perfect for Hermione, and they are adorable. I can’t wait to see them at Hogwarts!" A user stated:

"Didn’t actually think there could be anyone else to convey the essence of Hermione, but this young girl is perfect for it."

The makers are adamant about keeping the essence of JK Rowling's novels and the legacy built by the original trio, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. To ensure that they selected the right cast, the makers went through over 32,000 audition tapes before making the final call. Apart from the trio, other cast members have also been selected for several roles, some of which include John Lithgow as 'Albus Dumbledore', Janet McTeer as 'Minerva McGonagall', Paapa Essiedu as 'Severus Snape', Nick Frost as 'Rubeus Hagrid', Luke Thallon as 'Quirinus Quirrell', and Paul Whitehouse as 'Argus Filch'. Additionally, a 1.2 billion US dollar set-up is being built to ensure that all amenities are provided to the team on set, as the series will take place over the coming years.
