Famous Punjabi singer and songwriter Guru Randhawa is the latest target of the internet due to his music video, Azul. While the industry has been hailing him for discovering fresh talent and collaborating with them, there is a section of people who are criticising him for portraying the role of a teacher and eyeing a schoolgirl romantically in the music video.
The video started with a schoolgirl blowing bubblegum bubbles and waiting to get clicked for their group picture. The next frame introduced Guru Randhawa as a photography teacher who is waiting for one last student to join. The girl join in and show her killer dance move, and Guru Randhawa, as a teacher, eyes her every move. In the next frame, the girl was seen dressed up in casual ensembles, showing off her sexy moves.
While the peppy song and hookstep left everyone in awe, the portrayal of a school girl as a love affair of a photographer teacher is highly questionable and raises concern. Guru Randhawa's music videos are super hits and reach a mass audience. However, it could send a wrong message to people.
The internet was quick to express its disgust at Guru Randhawa's latest music album. One user wrote, "We should normalise male-female interactions of any age and not always give it a sexual angle. I remember in my childhood, if I talked or was influenced by any male, I was teased that I liked him sexually. Although I wasn’t adult enough to understand sexuality at that time.. I am shocked that such a mentality is still there."
Another one pointed out that K-Drama and school romance don't include Pedophilic behaviour, and wrote, "Omg, too many dumb people justifying it in the name of school romance K-dramas or Hollywood content!! They clearly need to read the description of Paedophilia and Grooming relationships. Both underage or teenage males and females in love do not fall into the above category!!"

A third user penned, "People don’t realise that cinema and music have a very significant impact on people, especially in India, and we see the results of it in the behaviour of men in our society. These artist don’t care about the social impact. They just care that their music sells and videos like this make them money in the end. In today’s world everyone wants the money and that’s one viral video to become famous or infamous! No one really cares about the social impact and those who do are berated."
A fourth one commented, "Bat to ye hai ki aaj Kal ke creators kya itne kshubddh mansikta ke hai ....unki creativity itni simit hai ki ....wo isase ipar na uth pa rahe hai na soch pa rahe hai......inko 90 ke album dikhao jinme 2-3 minutes me kitni khoobsurat khani dikh jati hai jo aaj bhi relevant hai......chahe wo pehle pyar ka Ehsan ho teenage love ho kisi ke prati aasakti ho....nadan prem ho ya koi bhi situation ho.....gane bhi umda story bhi umda aur unse milne wale message bhi umda.....lekin aaj in Gano me female ko objectify Kiya ja rha hai.....gane ka Matlab unki deh se hai.....dance ke moves me bhi koi saumyta nhi nhi hai...kya bas madakta hi bachi hai parosane ko aur kuch bhi nhi hai....abhi ye model nach rahi hai aur Kal school college ke youth festival aur programs me students dikhenge aise hi abhadrata se nachte huye......iske parinam bhut durgami hai.....jo bhut gambheer parinam rakhte hai."
