'DWTS' Elaine Hendrix Misses Halloween Night Live, Here's Why She Was Hospitalised Ahead Of The Show

Dancing with the Stars surprised the fans with some really spooky performances ahead of Halloween. The episode held even greater significance, as it marked Cheryl Burke's return to the show after 3 years. However, did you know there was a contestant who missed out on performing? Yes, we are talking about Elaine Hendrix, who was rushed to the hospital ahead of Dancing With the Stars Halloween Night after experiencing an injury during rehearsal.

What happened to Elaine Hendrix?

Elaine Hendrix has been doing immensely well on DWTS. However, fans were quick to notice that she was missing from the episode on October 28, 2025, (ET). This led fans to wonder why, and the show's co-host, Alfonso Ribeiro, addressed the same and revealed why she had not joined the team. The host revealed that the actress had injured herself during the rehearsal and was now hospitalised. He was quoted as saying:

"Now, as you've probably noticed, Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten are not here. She suffered an injury in rehearsal this morning. Right now, she's at the hospital being assessed. They're still in the competition and still need your votes. We'll explain more later on."

Elaine Hendrix shared a teary-eyed video ahead of her Dancing with the Stars absence

DWTS showed video clips of Elaine Hendrix in tears from earlier on October 28, 2025. The actress also took to social media to address her absence. She revealed that she was devastated to miss the Halloween Special, as she was beyond excited about her performance. She assured fans that she will be back next week and stated:

"Halloween is my favorite, and I'm devastated. I was beyond excited to share what we had worked so hard on, although you'll see a version of it. With your support, I'll be back in the ballroom next week. I want nothing more."

Elaine Hendrix has everyone impressed with her journey on DWTS

Elaine Hendrix has been praised throughout the competition for progressing each week despite a car accident decades ago that left lingering issues with her foot. The actress had revealed during her Wicked Night intro that she has a titanium joint and is unable to use her foot fully. She danced to the song, Defying Gravity during the October 21, 2025, live show, and Bersten made it clear that his partner could "trust herself" and "is stronger than her injuries." She was quoted as saying:

"I have a titanium joint in my right foot, so that renders half my foot unusable. Every week, my body shifts into a new pain spot, but I just don't want to let it stop me. I know my determination is going to win it, just getting there is quite a journey."

Elaine Hendrix was praised by judge Derek Hough for her determination during her performance. He lauded her for defying the odds and praised her for having such "grace and wisdom." Throughout the competition, she has wowed the judges and viewers by continuing to show her strength and enthusiasm for taking on the dance floor at her age. Elaine has consistently reminded viewers that she is 54 years old and "just did that." Judge Carrie Ann Inaba has also become emotional throughout the actress's journey in the competition.
