'Dragon Age: The Veilguard' Takes Home Game Of The Year At Gayming Awards 2025

The Gayming Magazine is dedicated towards connecting the LGBTQIA+ and the video gaming communities. From a magazine to a website, the organisation is well-loved by video game geeks. In 2021, they also launched the Gayming Awards which has swiftly become a highly anticipated award ceremony in both communities. Now the winner of Gayming Awards 2025 has been announced and its none other than the beloved RPG game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Gayming Awards 2025 winners, Dragon Age: The Veilguard takes home two awards

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has snagged the Gayming Award 2025 for Game of the Year and also the Best LGBTQ+ Character for 'Rook'. This game is an action role-playing game (RPG) which was developed in 2024 by BioWare and released by Electronic Arts. This is the fourth instalment in the Dragon Age franchise.

Talking about the character 'Rook' for which the game won the Best LGBTQ+ Character award, the game's story follows them as they try to stop the villainous elven god, 'Solas', from ending the world. Along the story 'Rook' also frees two other eleven gods and has to protect the world for them too. This single-player game was released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Windows. 

More honorees from the Gayming Awards 2025 

Apart from Dragon Age: The Veilguard there are many other video games that won at the Gayming Awards 2025. Code Coven won the Industry Diversity Award. Stream for a Cause took home the Community Impact Award. The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered snagged the Gayming Magazine Readers' Award. Meanwhile, for voicing 'Rook' in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Erika Ishii won the Best LGBTQ+ Voice Actor of the Year Award.

Starting from Gayming Magazine, the organisation has ventured into a website, award ceremony and has newly launched a charity known as Gayming Foundation. In fact, the money raised through Gayming Awards 2025 will go towards the foundation which aims towards the upliftment of 'uplift and empower LGBTQ+ games workers and fans to affect change, celebrate inclusivity, and drive forward representation in games'.

The founder of Gayming Magazine and Gayming Awards, Robin Gray said that all the winners represent diversity and inclusivity, all of whom are trying to make the industry better in their own unique way. Robin also expressed that more than ever the community needed to defend and support each other. He said in his address:

"This year's winners represent a wonderfully diverse group of people, all of whom are working to make our industry better in their own way. Whether that's creating games with storylines and characters that represent us, creating communities and holding space for LGBTQ+ people to be themselves, or by changing the industry piece by piece to be more inclusive."
