Diljit Dosanjh Breaks Silence On Shooting With Pakistani Actress, Hania Aamir: 'Really Respect Her'

India and Pakistan's relationship soured after the unfortunate attack on civilians in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which took 26 lives. After which, Pakistani artists were banned from working in India, and a geo-ban was put on famous Pakistani celebrities. However, despite the tense situation, Diljit Dosanjh's film, Sardaar Ji 3, features Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir. This led to extreme trolling and fans' anger at Diljit and the makers of the film for retaining Hania after what happened.

Recently, in an interview with BBC Asian Network, Diljit finally broke his silence on the matter, and angry fans criticised him for working with the Pakistani actress despite the ban. It is worth mentioning that the film, Sardaar Ji 3, is going to be released overseas and won't be released in India. Diljit clarified that the film was shot in February 2025, and at that time, the India-Pakistan relationship was better. 

However, things changed, and it wasn't in their hands. However, it is the producers of the films who have decided to release the film overseas, as it won't be released in India. Diljit further stated that the producers, who have put in a lot of money, want to release the film overseas, and he supports them. He said:

"Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in Feb and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi. They know there will be a loss because you’re removing an entire territory. Even when I signed the film, everything was fine. Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them."

Talking about working with the Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir, Diljit heaped praises on her and called her extremely professional. He stated that he respects her work and her privacy, and since he is also a private person, he gives space to everyone. He was quoted as saying:

"Very good. She’s very professional. I really respect her work and her privacy. I’m also a very private person myself and I give everyone their space, especially women. To the point hi baat hoti hai zayada kuch nahi."

After the trailer of Sardaarji 3 was released, many Indians were left disappointed that their favourite superstar, Diljit, continued to retain Hania Aamir in his film. Soon, people demanded a boycott call for him, and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees supported it. It is worth mentioning that Diljit disappointed several Indians and their sentiments, as it's just been a month since soldiers fought in the Operation Sindoor for the pride of the nation and fighting terrorism.
