Speaking to the media, Rahul’s co-star, Bhaskar Banerjee, revealed that the fateful incident occurred after packing up.

The Bengali actor alleged that his estranged wife, Priyanka, even mentally tortured his mother. Rahul claimed that Priyanka wanted to stay apart from his family as she herself had left her parents to marry him. For the uninitiated, Priyanka’s parents were against her marriage to Rahul. Speaking about her strained relationship with her parents, in a 2018 interview with TOI, Priyanka said:

"We started living in very young and got married quite young too. It was a hasty and an immature decision. And for this, my relationship with my parents got strained and it took me years and a lot of effort to fix it. Now, my parents are fine with me and I feel sorry that I had hurt them so much."

Shutting the rumours, in a 2018 interview with TOI, Priyanka Sarkar revealed that she didn’t want any alimony from Rahul but wanted him to secure their child, son, Sohoj’s future financially. Priyanka shared that when she moved to her new house with her son, Sohoj, she had to work 24/7 to earn money. Priyanka highlighted that being a single mom, things had been much tougher. She was quoted as saying:

"I don't want any alimony from him but I have asked him what he can do to secure Sohoj's future financially, as it is getting difficult for me now. Rahul has wanted some time and I have given him that so that he can come up with a solution. When I into my new house with Sohoj, I remember I was working 24x7 as I wanted money. It is not easy for a single mother ... life is tough!"
