Rather, they had a good time working together. Moreover, both of the actors have an established legacy in the film business, and neither of them nor the film needs any publicity through fake PR stunts. Also, it confirmed that they are in the initial stages of the relationship. Sharing the insights, the source claimed:

"Everything between them has been genuine. Neither would ever take part in a publicity stunt. They have a great time. Neither of them needs the publicity." 

Before the release of The Naked Gun, several news reports surfaced, which claimed that there was more to the relationship between Pamela and Liam than met the eye. The speculations intensified when Pamela, during her interview with Entertainment Weekly, called Liam her 'forever friend" with whom she shared a "sincere and loving bond". The duo's real-life chemistry was the highlight of The Naked Gun's press tour, especially during the New York premiere of the film, where they brought their children for a blended family photo moment. The next day, the pair had playfully staged a kiss on the Today show, which was enough to convince fans that they were clearly in love.

In complete contrast to People's report, TMZ has painted a very different picture of the entire scene. It reported that romance was nothing more than a smart PR facade planned by Paramount and their PR teams to create buzz for The Naked Gun. Their sources claimed that Pamela and Liam hadn't even seen each other between the end of filming in June 2024 and the movie's press tour in July 2025. Another big PR tactic was Pamela's claim that she baked muffins and sourdough bread for Liam, something that he went along with until the film's premiere.

While PEOPLE insists the relationship is authentic, TMZ's account leaves fans questioning what's real and what's a performance. Meanwhile, both actors had long and public romantic histories that added more to the story. Pamela's whole love life has been in the headlines. Especially her marriages to Tommy Lee, Kid Rock, followed by two with Rick Salmon raised eyebrows. She also had a short 12-day romance with Jon Peters in 2020 and a marriage to Dan Hayhurst that ended in 2022. On the flip side, Liam was married to Natasha Richardson from 1994 until her tragic death in 2009. Prior to that, he was linked to Helen Mirren in the 1980s. He was even speculated to have briefly date Barbra Streisand in the early '90s.
