The downfall of former Michigan head coach, Sherrone Moore, has taken a more serious turn after reports suggest that the University of Michigan had investigated his alleged conduct multiple times before finally firing him. Initially, the case appeared to be a case of sudden termination. However, it has now raised uncomfortable questions about whether there were warning signs that were overlooked by the authorities before the scandal became public. Here's what we know about it.
According to a report by CBS Detroit and The Wall Street Journal revealed that the University of Michigan's officials had allegedly investigated Sherrone Moore on at least three separate occasions over concerns related to his conduct with women. Although the details of the probe remain unclear, sources told the outlets that complaints had surfaced clearly before his final termination on December 10, 2025.

The Wall Street Journal reported that in mid-October, a tipster contacted the university and alleged that Sherrone Moore was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. At that time, both Sherrone and the women had reportedly denied the claims. According to a person familiar with the University, they had brought in an outside law firm rather than taking immediate disciplinary action.

Consequently, the University's past decisions are now under scrutiny as the same woman allegedly reconnected with investigators after a few weeks. She claimed that the relationship had lasted nearly two years, ending in 2024. Alongside, the Wall Street Journal mentioned that she provided the authorities with relevant emails, text messages, and call logs to support her account.

The situation with Sherrone Moore intensified on December 10, 2025, after the University of Michigan announced that it had "credible evidence" indicating an inappropriate workplace relationship. Later, the police took action after a woman informed them that Sherrone was stalking her and had allegedly tried to attack her after his termination. According to public records, the caller's residence was listed as belonging to Sherrone's executive assistant. But there is no official confirmation about it.

Sherrone Moore was taken into custody later that evening. He was charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking, and breaking. Prosecutors alleged in their court filings that Sherrone Moore broke into their home after the woman ended their relationship that week and threatened to harm himself. He reportedly grabbed some household items, such as scissors and a kitchen knife, for the same purpose. However, he has been granted a USD 25,000 bond.

Paige Shiver, the daughter of longtime Chicago Bears scout Jeff Shiver, joined Michigan Athletics in 2022. Later, she was promoted to the post of executive assistant to the head coach in early 2024. Although neither the police nor the University of Michigan identified her as the employee linked to Sherrone's termination, netizens have already linked her to the case.
However, the New York Post reported that Washtenaw County prosecutor Kati Rezmierski stated that the alleged victim was in an "intimate relationship" with Sherrone Moore for several years. After the controversy, Paige Shiver has deactivated her X and LinkedIn accounts. At the same time, she made her Instagram handle private.
