Dhanashree Verma Reacts To Ex-Husband, Yuzvendra Calling Their Marriage Fake, 'Don't Take Advantage'

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma's personal lives have garnered significant attention. The duo got married back in December 2020, and by March 2025, the couple parted ways. While the actual reason for their divorce was not known, Yuzi made some shocking claims while being on Raj Shamani's podcast, and he even went on to tag his marriage with Dhanashree as 'fake'. Now, Dhanashreee sat for an interview with Humans of Bombay and reflected on her side of the story, thereby asking people to stop taking advantage just because she is tight-lipped.

Dhanashree Verma reacts to Yuzvendra Chahal labelling their marriage as 'fake'

Dhanashree Verma, in the recent interview, said that the reason people call it 'personal life' is that it is meant to be kept private. Dhanashree said that there are two sides to the coin, and one hand cannot cause the clapping. She further stated that just because she's silent now, people shouldn't just take advantage of her and the situation. Dhanashree mentioned that everything is just 'done and dusted', and although she has her side of the story to share, she doesn't want to delve into that right away as she wants to work on herself first. Dhanashree can be quoted as saying:

"There is a reason why we say personal life. It has to be private. A coin has two sides. You cannot clap with a single hand. Just because I am not speaking, doesn’t give anybody the power to take advantage of that. Its not correct and I don’t think it should happen with anybody. It's done and dusted, please move on. I do have lots to talk about it, I have my side of the story to it, but do I want to dwell into that? No. Right now, I am working on fixing myself."

Dhanashree Verma revealed being judged by society

Believe it or not, if anything goes wrong in a marriage, the first finger is often raised against a woman, and the same seems to have happened with Dhanashree Verma. In the same interview, Dhanashree said that people just need to understand that labelling a woman for anything and everything isn't justified. She further questioned how people, despite having the least knowledge, pointed fingers at her and associated her with several people throughout her marriage and even before that. She expressed her gratitude to the industry people who didn't judge her for being at a crossroads, but rather appreciated her talents and continued to work with her. She said:

"People need to realise that you cannot label a woman always. When you don’t know anything, how are you labelling the woman? People always comment. They commented even when I was not associated with anyone, much before my marriage. They had issues with the energy I danced with."

Dhanashree Verma reveals if she believes in love anymore

In the same interview, Dhanashree Verma was asked if she believes in love still. To this, the choreographer said that love is something that everyone wishes for, and it's something that drives a person. She also mentioned that if anything good is written for her in life, she would definitely take it, as her parents and friends all want the same thing for her. Dhanashree stated that love is very Bollywood, and if again something like this is written for her, she wouldn't take a step back from it.

In the same interview, Dhanashree Verma recalled her final push during the last day of the hearing of her divorce from Yuzvendra. On that day, Yuzi wore a T-shirt with a message that could be read, 'Be your own sugar daddy'. He said in an interview that he wanted to spread a message. Dhanashree, in the recent interview, was asked about her reaction, and she mentioned that on that day, she was really emotional and crying. As soon as she found out about the media attention and the t-shirt, it was her final push.
