When Demi Lovato stepped on the stage with the Jonas Brothers in New Jersey on August 10, 2025, fans were quick to call it a Camp Rock fan's dream come true. She swore a shimmery rhinestone-covered jeans as she sang some iconic hits alongside her long-time friends. 

But the memorable moments also brought back reminders of her brief romance with Joe Jonas back in March 2010 and the fact that Joe dated Taylor before her, which marked the beginning of a bittersweet relationship between Demi and Taylor. Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift's alleged hostility over Joe Jonas and Selena Gomez 

Demi Lovato, who once played the love interest of Joe Jonas on-screen, began dating him in 2010. However, the duo parted ways after a few months. Initially, she stayed quiet, but later admitted she was angry with Joe, and some news reports suggested that her anger was indirectly towards Taylor Swift, who dated Joe before her in 2008. However, there was no confirmation from either side of the news. 

Around the same time, Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift were part of a young Hollywood circle that included Selena Gomez. The trio was often seen together as they rose to fame around the same time. Taylor's country career achieved new heights, and Demi's Disney Projects brought her recognition. But things shifted in 2010, when a fan asked Demi about Selena. Demi Lovato called out Taylor Swift on multiple occasions

Demi Lovato's criticism continued when, in 2015, she publicly called out Taylor's Bad Blood video, claiming that it 'tore down' Katy Perry, and featured only women with 'perfect bodies, ' setting the wrong example for youth. Later, when the Blank Space singer accused Scooter Braun of purchasing the masters to her first six albums in 2019, Demi signed him as her manager. She even went ahead to defend him and called him a 'good man' in an Instagram post. Sharing her views on Scooter Braun, Demi penned:

"I have dealt with bad people in this industry, and Scooter is not one of them. I'm grateful he came into my life when he did. Please stop 'dragging' people or bullying them. There's enough hate in this world as it is."

Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift got over their past

Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift had multiple public disagreements, but they were not always against each other. The Cool For The Summer singer praised Taylor's music, notably her 2019 album, Lover. Again in 2013, during her MTV Video Music Awards, they shared a rare, sweet moment when Demi performed her rock version of Cool for the Summer and Taylor, who had won nine awards that night, was dancing and singing along in the audience. When a fan account posted the clip, Demi responded with heart-filled emojis, melting the internet.
