While speaking to The Fader in 2016, Daniel recalled that he was homeschooled when his parents revealed a weed scandal to the school. Caesar opened up on how this changed his life and said:

“They weren’t going to let me go to the parties during grad week – they didn’t want me to do anything bad before school ended – and my dad had told me to clean up my room and I didn’t. So I came home one day and all my s*** was in garbage bags. I was just fed up, so we had a talk and I left.”

Daniel was initially living at his friend’s residence for a few days after leaving his house. He later joined a restaurant in downtown Toronto, where he was employed as a dishwasher. He also did couch surfing for some time and used to sleep on the park benches when his friends did not arrive home on time.
