Recently, the newly engaged couple's representative in a statement to PEOPLE revealed that the two had been dating for two years. Although the exact circumstances of their meeting are unclear, netizens began linking Coco and Donovan together in January 2024, approximately a year and a half ago. The speculations started when Coco was spotted in Paris, at the same time when Donovan was playing at the Paris Olympics. The eagle-eyed netizens started linking up the singer and the basketball player. 

First public appearance of Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones at a party 

Coco and Donovan were first spotted together at Michael Rubin's Fourth of July party. This sparked their dating rumours more. Many other celebrities including Tom Brady, Kim Kardarshian and more also attended the party, so the singer and basketball player were mere speculations. However, Coco and Donovan's relationship rumours were confirmed when they were seen in Las Vegas, attending Usher's concert around September 2024. And most importantly, they were holding hands at the concert. 

When Coco Jones confirmed her relationship status with Donovan Mitchell 

In December 2024, Coco was seen sitting courtside while Donovan played an NBA game for the Cleveland Cavaliers. A few months later, in March 2025, Coco confirmed dating Donovan in the Club Shay Shay podcast. The singer said that she doesn't prefer keeping her relationships a secret. Coco revealed that she does not like feeling like someone's secret, and also doesn't want someone to feel the same. The singer said in the podcast:

“Secrecy is not what I prefer. I don’t want to feel like I have to be somebody secret. I don’t want to make anybody feel like they’re mine. For me, I’m trying to protect myself, and I’m trying to protect my family and who I love, so I am more private."

In an earlier interview, when asked about the dating rumours, Coco had said that she was happy and that's all she would reveal. But in the podcast, the singer stated that she loves that the internet 'clocked her tea', that is, found out about her secret. However, she still keeps some things to herself since it is her life.

On July 11, 2025, the couple took to their Instagram handle and announced their engagement with a photo and a video. As seen in the video, Donovan proposed to Coco when they were vacationing together in a scenic resort. The engagement photo shared by the couple shows Coco with a sparkling engagement ring.
