The long and highly publicized legal battle between It Ends With Us co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has kept Hollywood on edge for months. Their tangled saga of accusations, counterclaims, and reputational fallout while working on their 2024 film has kept Hollywood on its toes for months now. What began as simple creative differences during the production of the film soon turned into the entertainment industry's most explosive legal battle. It gradually drew in Blake's husband, Ryan Reynolds, The New York Times, and even Taylor Swift. Now, a major update in the case has finally given one side a decisive win, though the fight is far from over.
According to TMZ, Justin Baldoni has officially lost his USD 400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times after missing the deadline to appeal a judge's ruling. Legal documents confirm that the final judgment has been entered, eliminating all of Justin's claims. The court found that Blake's allegations, which were originally in a civil case complaint, were legally protected and could not be considered defamatory. Likewise, The Times reported that The New York Times just followed the contents of Blake's complaint and therefore did not amount to libel.

The actor-filmmaker had accused the publication of selectively choosing news and publishing it to portray him in a negative light. Yet, the court disagreed. Additionally, Justin's claims against Ryan were also dismissed. The actor had alleged that Ryan falsely labeled him a "s**ual predator," but the judge felt that the statements just reflected his wife's allegations. Since the case has now been dismissed, Justin's legal options against her and others are now closed. Yet, the actress's lawsuit against Justin remains active, and she is reportedly seeking attorney's fees for defending against his claims.

The conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni goes back to 2024, when she filed a lawsuit accusing Justin Baldoni of s**ual harassment and creating a hostile work environment on the set of It Ends With Us. According to her complaint, Justin, who directed and co-starred in the film, made repeated inappropriate comments and initiated unwanted physical contact with her. She even accused him of entering her private trailer without consent when she was nursing her infant. Furthermore, she even claimed that he resisted her efforts to hire an intimacy coordinator and later planned a smear campaign against her when she spoke up.

In turn, Justin denied all the allegations and accused her of using her celebrity status to take control of the film's creative direction and tarnish his reputation. In early 2024, he and his company, Wayfarer Studios, filed a massive USD 400 million countersuit against Blake and Ryan. He alleged them of defamation and extortion. Additionally, he sued The New York Times for USD 250 million, claiming that the outlet's article on the controversy was part of a "coordinated attack" against him. The court, however, found no basis for his claims.

In fact, Justin launched a website to share his version of events, while Blake's supporters, including prominent Hollywood figures, publicly extended their support to her. According to the BBC, the judge's June 2025 decision marked a significant legal and reputational setback for Justin, but Blake's complaint against him is ongoing, with a trial scheduled for March 2026.
