'Black Clover' Season 2 Premiere Details Revealed With An Explosive Trailer At Jump Festa 2026

Black Clover is a much-loved Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuki Tabata. The series began in Shueisha's Shonen Manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, in February 2015 and ran there until August 2023, then moved to Jump Giga in December 2023. It was adapted into an original video animation by Xebec Zwei and released in 2017, and has since become one of the most-loved series. While the series ended in 2021, fans have been patiently waiting for season 2 of the anime drama, and now we finally have the details.

Black Clover to be released globally in 2026

Fans had been hoping the Black Clover creators would provide an update at Jump Festa 2026. For the unversed, Jump Festa is one of the biggest anime events and was the perfect stage for the big announcement. Additionally, as Black Clover is part of the Jump family, the announcement during one of their events was a no-brainer for fans. The event was held on December 21, 2025, and delivered some of the biggest surprises.

The announcement included a new teaser trailer and key visual, highlighting the continuation of the Spade Kingdom Raid arc, in which 'Asta' and the 'Magic Knights' launch a massive counterattack to rescue 'Captain Yami Sukehiro' and 'William Vangeance'. The announcement further highlighted the OG voice actors reprising their roles, including 'Gakuto Kajiwara' as Asta, 'Nobunaga Shimazaki' as Yuno, 'Junichi Suwabe' as Yami Sukehiro, 'Kana Yuki' as Noelle Silva, and 'Hiro Shimono' as Nacht Faust.

What did the Black Clover teaser hint at about Season 2?

The teaser, launched during Jump Festa 2026, featured intense moments from Black Clover Season 2. The teaser included 'Asta' and 'Liebe's' training, and 'Nacht's' Devil Union transformation. According to the video, the new season will continue from where season 1 left off. It adapts the Spade Kingdom Raid arc from Yuki Tabata's manga.

It was serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2015 to 2023 before moving to Jump GIGA. The series will follow 'Asta's' anti-magic textbook and 'Yuno's' wind powers as they drive their rivalry towards becoming the 'Wizard King'. Crunchyroll's synopsis of Black Clover Season 2 can be read as:

"In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno... are ready for the hardest of challenges."

Black Clover Season 2 will be produced by the same studio behind the original series, Studio Pierrot. While key staff details remain unannounced, former directors Tatsuya Yoshihara and Ayataka Tanemura helmed the prior episodes. However, their return to the series is not yet confirmed. Crunchyroll will stream Black Clover Second Season globally, building on its catalog of all 170 prior episodes, available in both subtitles and dubs. The platform previously teased the 2026 window, which it later edited out; the window is now confirmed by official sources.

Why is Black Clover's upcoming season called the 'second season' instead of season 5?

International fans of the series noticed that the series has been titled Black Clover Second Season, when it will actually be season 5. However, in Japan, the original 170 episodes aired continuously as one long season, so the international split into four seasons differs from the official Second Season branding. While no official date for Black Clover Season 2 has been revealed, the announcement has left fans thrilled to see their favourite characters on the screen once again.
