Bill Maher Slams Mockery Over Charlie Kirk's Tragic Death, Says, 'The Civil War Is Not Very Civil..'

The tragic and unexpected assassination of activist, Charlie Kirk has left the entire United States in deep shock. In the past few days, Charlie's death has sparked debates about violence and an increasingly toxic culture of online reactions. Amid that, comedian, Bill Maher opened up about the death of Charlie Kirk and expressed his frustration at the mockery and celebratory remarks.

Bill Maher believes it is an 'ugly week' in America

According to The Hollywood Reporter, in the latest episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, the comedian and commentator addressed the political issues and division in America and called it an ugly week. Then, he continued to address the assassination of Charlie Kirk and mentioned that the civil war doesn't look civil to him. He shared:

"And then today in Congress, because Charlie Kirk got assassinated, Lauren Boebert stood up and said, 'We need to have a prayer.' So they started to have a silent prayer. And then she started screaming, 'No! Silent prayers get silent results.' As if praying out loud gets big results. Then the Democrats started screaming at her that there was a school shooting in her state. I tell you, so far, the civil war is not very civil."

The comedian later spoke in detail about the reactions to Charlie Kirk's tragic death. He expressed his frustration on people, who are mocking the activist's death, and he called them 'gross'. He was quoted as saying:

"I like everybody, I talk to everybody, I'm glad I took that approach. But he was shot under a banner that said, 'Prove me wrong,' because he was a debater, and too many people think that the way to do that -- to prove you wrong -- is to just eliminate you from talking altogether. So the people who mocked his death or justified it, I think you're gross. I have no use for you. The people who are saying now we're at war, I have no use for you."

Bill Maher also agreed with the governor, who called social media 'cancer'. The comedian mentioned that people live in bubbles, where they only see opinions that match their own. He also explained that violence is not one-sided. He said that instead of heated debates, both sides need to admit their role in the problem. In his words:

"The governor of the state said, 'Social media is a cancer,' which I think is true because when you read some of the comments from people, they really are in such a bubble that they don't understand that it's happening on both sides. And I think the only way this starts to get better is if both sides admit, 'OK, let's not have this debate about who started it. Let's not debate about who's worse because, plainly, both sides do it now.' And the right has done it too. A lot."
