Everyone in life has to make some tough decisions, which are necessary at times. One such step, which was bold and brave, was taken by none other than South Indian actress, Bhavana Ramanna, who embraced motherhood as a single mother and did not follow the traditional process of getting married. It was on September 6, 2025, when the actress was blessed with twins via the IVF process, but one of the babies unfortunately passed away.

Reportedly, Bhavana was in her seventh month of pregnancy when the doctors saw that one of her foetuses had developed health complications, and on the advice of her doctors, she gave birth to them in the eighth month. Now, Bhavana's other baby girl, who survived, is known to be stable, while the actress is doing fine. However, who is Bhavana, the single, unmarried parent who decided to give her children the best of two worlds?

Did you know that Bhavana's real name is not what she writes and is not publicly known?  According to a News 18 Hindi report, Bhavana's real name is Nandini Ramanna, and she made her debut in the Kannada movie industry in 1996. It was in 1997 when Bhavana rose to fame with the movie, Chandramukhi Pranakshi and the south star, Mohan, in the Tamil movie, Anbulla Kadhalukku. 

Bhavana has also been known for sharing screenspace with the legendary actor of the South, Mohanlal, in the film, Oru Marubhoomikkadha. The film was released in 2011, and both of them were seen in the main cast of the film. Oru Marubhoomikkadha was also dubbed in Hindi, and the name of the film was South Superhit Action Film. Bhavana was also seen in famous movies such as I Love You, Adhuveera Nacha Kadhalu, and Aha Ithanai Azhugu.

Bhavana reportedly is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, for which she has received an award, and was a star campaigner during the 2013 Assembly Elections. Bhavana's career on the professional front has spanned over like two decades, and she has got her name not just as an actress but also a public figure, TV star and also a powerful cultural icon.

Bhavana Ramanna's pregnancy case was not taken by the hospitals

It was at the age of 40 that Bhavana made the life-altering decision to become a mom. She decided to step onto this journey without getting married. We live in a society where a single mother is often faced with various kinds of stigmas. She broke the chain by going in for IVF treatment and celebrated with her fans the news of being pregnant with twins. Bhavana, earlier in an interview with the same publication, revealed how hospitals did not want to take her case as she was a single mother and also was unmarried.

Bhavana's case was then taken by Dr. Sushma post she was rejected multiple times. Dr. Sushma was compassionate and understood Bhavana's desire to become a mother. The actress, born in Agumbe, Karnataka, came from a home that placed importance and value on education as well as culture. She did receive support from her entire family, especially her dad, and extended family members who stood by Bhavana at all times. The actress had written in her Instagram post:

"No one questioned my decision. Even though my children won’t have a father, they will grow up in a home full of art, music, culture, and unconditional love. In my 20s & 30s, motherhood wasn't on my mind. But when I turned 40, the desire was undeniable. As a single woman, the road wasn’t easy — many IVF clinics rejected me outright."
