AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, tied the knot back in 1995. They have been together for 29 years, and after such a long period, the duo decided to end their marriage and separate. This came as a shock to all their fans and well-wishers who always saw the duo as couple goals. However, we can never judge what is going on in someone's mind just by judging from their exterior.
AR Rahman and Saira Banu have three kids: two daughters, Khatija and Raheema and a son, Ameen. Parents' separation is always hard on the kids, and the trio are no different. AR Rahman and Saira Banu have been together for 29 years, so their separation is exceptionally hard for the kids. The couple's daughter, Khatija Rahman, took to her Instagram account and urged the public to respect their family’s boundaries during this time.
AR Rahman's second daughter, Raheema, also shared a story on her Instagram and emphasised how her parents' split was a personal decision. She also stated that both Rahman and Saira are capable of making the best choices for themselves as they are grown adults.
AR Rahman and Saira Banu's son, AR Ameen, shared a picture post on his IG story and said that he would like to request everyone to respect their privacy. As this is a very sensitive period for them as a family, and they would like to deal with it in privacy.
Saira Banu's lawyer, in a media statement to India Today, discussed the emotional strain that led to the decision. Saira made the difficult decision to part ways with AR Rahman, a decision that was not taken lightly. Despite their enduring love, the tensions and difficulties they have faced have created a significant gap, making it hard to bridge.
