Satya Narayana Nadella, better known as Satya Nadella is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Microsoft. The entrepreneur has held this position since February 2014, succeeding famous American billionaire, Steve Ballmer. In recent years, Satya Nadella has received a series of awards and accolades for his work in the field of technology with Microsoft. It was only in 2022 that the Government of India bestowed Satya Nadella with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award.
For the unversed, Padma Bhushan is the third-highest civilian award, and it speaks volumes about Satya Nadella’s excellence in the field of technology and business. The billionaire businessman was born in Hyderabad, India on August 19, 1967. He completed most of his education in India. However, later in his career, he moved to the U.S., and as of now, he is living there with his wife, Anupama Nadella and their kids, a son and a daughter.

Satya Nadella's father, B. N. Yugandhar used to serve as a distinguished civil servant in the Indian Administrative Service, and his mother, Prabhavati Nadella, is a Sanskrit scholar. The entrepreneur always speaks highly of his parents and credits them for all his success. Not only this, Satya has time and again emphasised the importance of having a supportive family.

Satya Nadella’s wife, Anupama Nadella is a native of New Delhi, and if the reports are to be believed, she is approximately 49 years old. Although not much information is available in the public domain about Anupama, some reports suggest that she completed her education in Hyderabad. Also, she has a degree in architecture from the famous Manipal University. Talking about Anupama’s father, KR Venugopal had a distinguished career as an IAS officer.
As per reports, Anupama’s father had the privilege of serving under the former Indian Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao. Talking about Anupama’s professional background, she doesn’t work as she decided to dedicate her life to the upbringing of her kids. She is a devoted homemaker, and she has willingly set aside her professional aspirations to focus on nurturing her children.

Satya Nadella and Anupama Nadella have an interesting immigration journey, which speaks volumes about the love Microsoft CEO has for his wife. When Satya Nadella and Anupama tied the knot in 1992, the former had already established himself as a permanent resident in the United States. Meanwhile, Anupama resided in India, and as a result, she had to go through an immigration process.

However, a twist of fate occurred as U.S. immigration authorities declined Anupama Nadella's visa application due to an extensive waiting period for spouses of green card holders. As a result, Anupama could only enter the U.S. temporarily on a tourist visa. The process was going to be long, and in order to cut it down, Satya Nadella had decided to make a remarkable sacrifice. The entrepreneur gave up his green card and transitioned back to an H-1B visa, which made him a temporary worker all over again. This sacrificing move from Satya eliminated the waiting period for his spouse's immigration, ensuring their journey together wasn’t blocked.
In 2022, Anupama Nadella and Satya Nadella encountered a tragedy when their 26-year-old son, Zain Nadella, who had cerebral palsy, passed away all of a sudden. Although the couple has been candid about the difficulties they faced while raising their specially-abled son with special needs, but it was indeed a major shock to them. However, after their son’s unfortunate demise, Anupama Nadella committed to positively impacting the lives of children suffering from similar special conditions.
Anupama Nadella joined hands with the Seattle Children's Hospital, where she actively contributed to improving children's health. Furthermore, Anupama also gained a lot of attention when she donated Rs. 2 crores to improve the livelihoods of farmers and women in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. We have repeatedly seen her and Satya Nadella giving back to society through donations and funds.
