Anshula Kapoor, sister of actor, Arjun Kapoor was recently eliminated from the reality show, The Traitors. After her elimination, she revealed that she was diagnosed with PTSD (Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder) after participating in the show. The show is hosted by filmmaker, Karan Johar and while the fans loved the drama, Anshula has shared a different perspective on it, highlighting the lasting emotional impact.
In an honest and emotional interview with The Quint, Anshula Kapoor opened up about the impact that participating in the show, The Traitors has left on her. While the show is doing very well because of its interesting gameplay and twists, Anshula described her personal experience as very stressful and traumatising. She said that the atmosphere was not just emotionally exhausting but also very disturbing.
She revealed that living without any communication from the outside world for the entire period of the show was extremely difficult. The intensity inside, such as no intercoms in the rooms, blacked-out room numbers, and the use of wind chimes to restrict movement just added more to her mental pressure. She admitted that the atmosphere wasn’t just emotionally exhausting but also disturbing. She also spoke about her reality and expectations and said, she was promised of a competitive reality format, but the reality was far different.
After getting eliminated from the show, Anshula mentioned that she had to go to therapy and was officially diagnosed with PTSD. She even made it clear that she did not have PTSD before entering the show and this show has left a disturbing impact on her. What is more interesting is that she did not have any specific or major fight with any co-contestant and it is entirely the environment of the show that turned out to be so traumatising for her. She even addressed rumours about the rift with her aunt and co-contestant, Maheep Kapoor and said that their bond remains unaffected. In her words:
"It was not about filming long hours, but about the conversations and atmosphere of the house. There were no intercoms in our room. They had blacked out our room numbers, so we didn't know our own or anyone else's room number. They had placed wind chimes outside our room door, and if you opened the door when you weren't supposed to, someone would come and tell you not to leave your room. I had to go back into intensive therapy after the show, and I was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. My anxiety levels went off the charts."
Anshula Kapoor is the daughter of film producer, Boney Kapoor and sister of Bollywood actor, Arjun Kapoor. Despite having a star kid tag, she chose to stay away from acting and built her own identity in digital and entrepreneurial space. She is the founder of Fankind, a fundraising platform that connects celebrities with fans to raise money for various charitable causes. Anshula is loved by people for her honesty and openness about mental health and body positivity. Her recent appearance on the show, The Traitors was her first time in this industry and even though her experience turned out to be traumatic, it showed her strength and ability to step outside her comfort zone.
