Helen is one of the finest actresses in Indian cinema. She was born in Rangoon, present-day Burma, to Anglo-Indian parents. Her way towards the film industry was a rough and distant path for the longest time, since she and her family had to escape. Coming back to her film career, the diva appeared in over 1000 films, and was especially known for her gorgeous beauty and swift dance moves. In her personal life, Helen is married to eminent screenwriter, Salim Khan.
In the recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan asked a contestant a question for Rs. 25 lakhs, about the one actress who was born in Myanmar and later escaped with her family to India. While the contestant couldn’t answer the same and decided to quit, Big B later revealed that the actress was none other than Helen. Talking more about the same, he said:
“Helen and her family escaped Myanmar...called Burma back then. In order to escape and come to India, they had to trek through miles of wilderness passing through rivers, mountains and forests. In order to escape from the Japanese occupation of Burma, she had to do this in 1943. She became a popular actress in our film industry. Watching her dance would leave one enthralled.”
