Amaal Malik's Dad, Daboo Says He Was At Fault For Pushing Son To Cut Ties With His Family, 'Took..'

In March 2025, Amaal Malik took to his Instagram handle and shared a shocking post, stating that he had decided to cut ties with his family. Amaal blamed his parents' actions, which caused a distance between him and his brother, Armaan Malik. While he deleted the post, the damage was already done. The entire internet was baffled by such an announcement, since the Malik family always shed happy vibes. Recently, Armaan and Amaal's father, Daboo Malik talked about the same and revealed being at fault, which led Amaal to take this decision.

Amaal Malik's father, Daboo Malik admits to making a mistake that pushed his son to break ties with the family

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Daboo Malik shared that he first thought that Amaal's post was another gimmick, but when he read the note, he realised that there was something 'drastically wrong'. Daboo said that from that moment till 15 days, he stayed with Amaal, consoled him and tried to understand what he missed.

Daboo went on to reveal that this incident, which first came to light in public, shouldn't have, but through this, his son wanted the world and his family to know something that was buried deep in his heart. He further accepted that as parents, he and his wife were at fault. He also mentioned that parents sometimes take one child for granted, and in their case, Amaal was the one. Daboo can be quoted as saying:

"I was there the whole day and night. Then I realised that this public outburst, which shouldn’t have come out in public in the first place, happened because there must have been something in his heart that he wanted the world, including his family, to know. And I accepted that we, as parents, were at fault. Sometimes we take one of the children for granted, and in this case, Amaal was the elder one."

In the same interview, Daboo Malik mentioned that they assumed that Amaal was like a parent to Armaan, and thus, they all started taking care of their younger child rather than the elder one. Daboo stated that they should have never made some comparisons, forgetting that Amaal too wanted to be a notable star. He further credited his elder son, Amaal, for creating over 80 songs. Daboo said:

"We assumed he was like a parent to Armaan, so we all worked together on Armaan’s career. We wanted him to be a singer and a pop star, which he has now become beautifully. In all this, we forgot that even Amaal wanted to be a noticeable star."

When Daboo Malik reacted to Amaal Malik cutting ties with his family

A few days after Amaal Malik announced his decision to cut ties with his family members, Daboo Malik reacted to the same. He took to his IG handle and shared a photo with his elder son. In the photo, Amaal could be seen giving a kiss on his father's cheek. Sharing the photo, Daboo captioned the post as 'I love you'. For the unversed, Amaal, posting a statement on IG, mentioned that he decided to part ways with his family and would only be acquainted with them professionally.

Amaal also mentioned that the decision was taken from a deep scar that bruised his soul. He also mentioned being clinically depressed and stated how the actions of some people close to him distanced him from his loving brother, Armaan. Amaal, in his note, further shared that he didn't make the decision from a place of anger, but he is rather committed to rebuilding his life, and he wouldn't let his past affect his future, which was why he made this decision.

Well, he later deleted the post, but the clamour had already begun. Armaan, on the other hand, didn't react to it, but he often shared adorable posts for his brother, throughout this time as well, which made it clear that their bond remained strong even through the storm.
