He was seen in several television programs, including Everybody Hates Chris, The Young and the Restless, 90210, Mad TV, Death Valley, and Dexter. If the reports are to be believed, Alex Duong passed away on March 28, 2026, from septic shock. He was reportedly hospitalised at the Saint John's Health Centre in Santa Monica, California, where his wife, Christina, and daughter, Everest, were able to bid the final goodbye. For the unversed, Alex Duong had been suffering from a rare and aggressive form of cancer known as alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. For the unversed, alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma is an aggressive form of soft tissue cancer which arises from skeletal muscle.

What is alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, from which Alex Duong was suffering and lost his left-eye vision?

As per the Cleveland Clinic, alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma is an aggressive form of cancer, which can affect children and those of young age, but also can occur among adults. It's said to be a type of sarcoma (cancer of soft tissue) that generally occurs in muscles that are attached to bone, but can also happen in any part of the body.

Alex Duong first discovered that he had an ache in his eye, following which, his eye seemed to look different, which was noticed by his manager. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Alex said that when he met with his manager, he said that the actor's left eye looked like it would fall off. The same difference was noticed by Alex's wife as well, who asked him:

"What the hell is wrong with your eye?"

Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma is an aggressive form of cancer, which spreads as soon as it occurs, and Alex was told that the tumour, which was preventing the blood flow to the nerve of his left eye, would spread from his nose to his neck. He was also told that this form of cancer has a very low survival rate. Speaking of treatment, it involves a combination of surgical resection, chemotherapy, and radiation.

Alex went through it all, but he couldn't survive. In an interview last year, in 2025, he revealed that he owed USD 400K in medical bills, and he got a lot of help from the GoFundMe that was created for him. Alex had to wear a black patch in his left eye, and the actor, who is a comedian at heart and profession, said that he could only see black feathers from his left eye. He was also a strong individual, however, he didn't like to be called that way as all he wanted was to make jokes and make people laugh.
