Akshay Kumar Says 'Fingers Crossed' Amid The 'Hera Pheri 3' Controversy Post Paresh Rawal's Exit

Hera Pheri 3, the third instalment of the Hera Pheri franchise, starring Bollywood stars, Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, has been a big topic of discussion for some time now. For the unversed, after the sudden exit of veteran actor, Paresh Rawal from the much-anticipated sequel, Hera Pheri 3, a huge controversy has started within the industry. Following Paresh’s stepping down from the project incurred a huge loss, which made Akshay Kumar file a Rs. 25 crore lawsuit against Paresh Rawal. Now, in a recent interview, Akshay said that he is still hopeful about the project.

Akshay Kumar says he is hopeful about the project amid the Hera Pheri 3 controversy

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Akshay was asked about the latest update on the film, Hera Pheri 3. In response, Akshay said that everything happening in the film is already in front of everyone. The Hera Pheri 3 actor also shared that he is still hopeful about the project and believes that everything will fall into place. In his words:

"Whatever is happening is happening in front of you. Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope everything goes well. Everything will go well only. I know, for sure."

When Paresh Rawal said his role as 'Baburao' is 'gale ka fanda'

Earlier in May 2025, Paresh Rawal appeared in an interview with Lallantop, and said he wanted to escape from his character, 'Baburao' built through the film, Hera Pheri. But it is worth mentioning that the comic character, 'Baburao' holds a special place in the fans’ heart. However, while actors like to play such iconic roles, Paresh felt suffocated to play such roles. In his words:

"Woh gale ka fanda hai. Main 2007 mein Vishal Bharadwaj ji ke paas gaya tha. 2006 mein part 2 release ho gayi thi. Maine kaha mere paas ek film hai, mujhe iski jo ek image hai na, usse chhutkara chahiye. Main actor hoon yaar, mujhe phasna nahi hai iss daldal mein."

On May 18, 2025, Paresh Rawal took to his X handle and confirmed about his exit from the much-anticipated project, Hera Pheri 3. Following his exit, Akshay Kumar sent a legal notice and sued him for Rs. 25 crore. In fact, Paresh also reportedly took a signing amount of Rs. 11 lakh, which he later returned to the film’s makers with 15 percent interest. As per multiple reports, Paresh also shot a promo for the film and stepped down from the project midway, for which he was called unprofessional by the makers. Paresh’s legal team also counter attacked the makers by stating that they had not provided the veteran actor, a script, screenplay and a long form contract of the film as promised earlier. In their words:

"Admittedly, they did not deliver the story, screenplay and also a draft of a long-form agreement which was fundamental to the engagement of our client."

Irrespective of this controversy, Akshay addressed that Paresh and he share a good bond and have been friends for more than 30 years at the trailer launch event of his film, Housefull 5. He also mentioned that Paresh Rawal is a very good actor. He also said that the controversy involving their film, Hera Pheri 3 is a serious matter, which is being handled by the court and he doesn’t want to comment anything on it. In fact, the actor also defended Paresh, when a journalist called the veteran actor 'foolish.'
