Action choreographer and film director, Veeru Devgan needs no introduction. Known for his amazing action sequences and excellent work in more than 200 films, Veeru Devgan’s contribution to Indian cinema is commendable. He is the first person to launch his son, Ajay Devgn in the '90s super hit film, Phool Aur Kaante. Who can forget Ajay’s iconic bike split entry sequence in the film?

For the unversed, Veeru Devgan had come to Mumbai to become an actor, but it was his son, Ajay, who had fulfilled his dream. On May 27, 2019, Veeru Devgan had bid adieu to the world and left for the heavenly abode. In many interviews, Ajay had talked his father’s contribution in making him a successful hero.
On June 25, 2021, Ajay Devgn took to his IG handle and shared a monochrome picture with Veeru Devgan on his 87th birth anniversary. Remembering him, Ajay penned an emotional note, which can be read as “I miss you everyday. More so today. Happy birthday Papa. Life hasn’t been the same since.”
On Veeru Devgan’s first death anniversary, Ajay had taken to his Instagram handle to relive his memories with some rare and unseen pictures. Along with it, he had penned a heartfelt note, revealing the void his father had left in his life. His note could be read as "Dear Dad, it’s a year since you left. However, I can feel you beside me—quiet, caring, protective; your presence is forever reassuring."
As per the report of India Today, Ajay Devgn had proudly stated that his father will always be the 'Singham' of his life. He had said, "The Singham in my life can only be my father. Because he is a man who came to Bombay at that point in time with nothing in his pocket, wanting to become something, struggled, washed and lived in taxis so he could live here, did not eat food for eight days at times, worked so hard, became a street fighter from there till Mr Ravi Khanna saw him one day asking him whether he would become a fight director. From there, his growth from nowhere to become India’s topmost action director is remarkable."

Coming back to the legacy of Veeru Devgan, he had stated in a media interaction that he lived his dream of becoming an actor through his son, Ajay Devgn. It was in the year 1957 when Veeru Devgan had taken the decision of entering the film industry and he had come to the city of dreams in the hope of becoming an actor. But he couldn't make it to the big screens as he didn't have the chocolate face which was trending at that time. It was then he had taken a vow to make his first son a hero.

Veeru Devgan’s last public appearance was at the special screening of Ajay Devgn’s film, Total Dhamaal in February 2019!
