AICWA Calls For Mahira-Fawad's Boycott For Their Remarks On Operation Sindoor, 'Who Insults India..'

Tension between India and Pakistan escalated following the horrific Pahalgam attack. It was on April 22, 2025, when Pakistani terrorists killed 26 Hindu men, while they were on a trip with their family members. India first took a five-action plan and then responded with 'Operation Sindoor', wherein they targeted and destroyed nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir. Pakistan retaliated with missile attacks on Poonch and killed 15 innocent people.

All Indian Cine Workers Association calls for Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan's ban in India for their comments on Operation Sindoor

As a phase 2 of Operation Sindoor, India has struck Pakistan's made-in-China air defence. Well, as the tension has been increasing, AICWA called for Pakistani actors' boycotts, following their eyebrow-raising comments on India's action of Operation Sindoor. Following India's response through Operation Sindoor, Pakistani actors such as Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan, who acted in Bollywood movies, made some shocking comments. While Fawad criticised this act, Mahira tagged it as 'shameful' and 'cowardly'. These comments surely didn't go down well with the Indians, who slammed these actors, who were once loved for their performances in Hindi films.

Amid this, the All Indian Cine Workers Association called for a boycott of Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan. In a long Tweet, AICWA criticised Indian filmmakers and music labels for collaborating with Pakistani actors, thereby not showing respect for the nation's sentiment. In the tweet, Mahira and Fawad's statements on Operation Sindoor were tagged as 'Anti-Indian', and the actor's criticism about India's action, and the actress' choice of words like 'Cowardly' for India had been highly condemned. An excerpt from the note can be read as:

"The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) strongly condemns the anti-India statements made by Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and actor Fawad Khan, who have openly criticised India and questioned the nation’s actions in defense of its sovereignty. Mahira Khan labeled India’s military response as a “Seriously Cowardly” act, while Fawad Khan, instead of condemning terrorism, focused on criticising India’s stance and supporting divisive narratives."

In the post, it was stated that the comments of these Pakistani artists were not only disrespectful but also an insult to the innocent people who lost their lives. Thus, AICWA requested that the actors and filmmakers of that country who are working in India be banned completely. Apart from that, Indian artists were also requested not to support Pakistani artists in the post. AICWA also slammed the film, Abir Gulaal, which featured Fawad Khan. For the unversed, the movie's release was cancelled in India after the Pahalgam attack.

What did Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan say in their comments about Operation Sindoor?

After India launched Operation Sindoor, Pakistani artists took to their social media handles and condemned the act. Mahira Khan dropped an explosive post, wherein she called India's act to be cowardly and shameful. She also made some comments about Pakistan being blamed for everything without 'evidence'. In the note, the actress was reportedly seen questioning India's action to attack past midnight, and celebrating it as a victory. On the other hand, Fawad Khan also called Operation Sindoor shameful while offering condolences to the victims. For the unversed, following the Pahalgam attack, Pakistani actors' social media accounts were banned in India.
