Survivor Of Plane Crash, Ramesh Vishwaskumar Who Was Sitting On 11A Escaped By Jumping Off The Plane

June 12, 2025, marks the loss of innocent lives in a tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad, India, which was bound for London. There were 242 people on board, including 10 crew members and 2 pilots who met with a horrific crash immediately after its taken-off. However, in a miraculous turn of events, a passenger sitting on 11A was saved from the fatal accident. 

Meet the sole survivor of the Air India crash, who was seen walking to the ambulance

Meet the 38-year-old British Indian, Ramesh Vishwaskumar Bucharvada, who was among the 242 people onboard the ill-fated Air India Flight AI 171, which crashed seconds after take off. It has killed over 200 people. Ramesh was seated in seat 11A, which was located right behind the emergency exit of the flight. 

Ramesh Vishwaskumar was visiting his family in Gujarat 

For the unversed, Ramesh Vishwaskumar was returning to London after he visited family in Gujarat with his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, whose whereabouts are not yet known. In an interview with News 18, Ramesh recalled the horrific plane crash he witnessed and revealed that there were bodies all around him and there were pieces of the plane. He was quoted as saying:

"There were bodies all around me, there were pieces of the plane all around me. Someone grabbed hold of me and put me in an ambulance.

Ramesh suffered 'impact injuries' to his chest, eyes and feet, as reported by the Hindustan Times. The police commissioner of Ahmedabad, GS Malik, confirmed his survival and said:

“The police found one survivor in seat 11A. He is under treatment. We can’t confirm the final death toll yet, as the crash occurred in a residential area and that number may rise."

In a clip that surfaced on the internet, the survivor was seen walking towards the ambulance as bystanders were questioning him about the crash. Ramesh further recalled the horrific crash and stated that within 30 seconds, there was a loud noise, and in the blink of an eye, the plane crashed. He said:

"Within 30 seconds, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly."

Vijay Rupani passed away in the fatal Air India crash

Gujarat's BJP state president, CR Patil, confirmed Vijay Rupani's death and called it a great loss for the party. He stated that their leader, Vijay Rupani, was also on that flight. He was quoted as saying:

"Our leader, former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, was also on that flight. Vijay Rupani died in this tragedy. May God grant peace to his soul. This is a great loss for the BJP family as well."

In the afternoon, a video of the aircraft flying low and trying its best to gain altitude surfaced on the internet. In the clip, the plane was seen slamming to the ground and exploding in a massive ball of fire at 1:38 p.m. For those who don't know, the aircraft was also loaded with fuel as it was flying to London, which included a lot of distance. 

Ramesh's surviving the ill-fated plane crash is proof enough that if God is with you, nothing can harm you.
