"Life takes us in different directions sometimes. After much thought and consideration, Kashyap Parupalli and I have decided to part ways. We’re choosing peace, growth, and healing for ourselves and each other. I'm grateful for the memories and wish nothing but the best moving forward. In the note, the Indian badminton star expressed that it is the distance between a couple that teaches the value of their loved one’s presence. The note can be read as:

Saina and Parupalli first crossed paths at a badminton training camp. Since both of them were busy with their respective careers, the couple didn’t get much time together at first. First the duo became close friends, and eventually fell in love in 2005. Saina and Parupalli planned to marry in 2012, but the former’s tournament schedule delayed their wedding ceremony.

Interestingly, the two lived in the same area and often visited each other’s homes, so their families were well aware of their love story. After dating for 13 years, the couple finally got married on December 14, 2018, in a private ceremony.
