Abhishek Bachchan recently sat down for an interview with Lilly Singh and revealed the discomfort of making high-profile appearances. He asked Lilly if she had seen his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, on the red carpet. The actor revealed that for him, it is the most daunting thing to go on the red carpet as he feels overwhelmed next to his wife. In his words:

"It’s the most daunting thing for me to go on a red carpet, period. And if I have to do it with her, it’s terrifying. They’re all professionals, they’re so good at it. I’m like a block of wood. I don’t know what to do. Should I keep my hands in my pockets? I’m very awkward. So they always end up saying, ‘One more smile, please.’”

Abhishek Bachchan also remembered one moment from his red carpet appearance, where he was extremely nervous. Paps had asked him what mistake they had made as the actor looked upset, as, unintentionally, he looked very serious on the red carpet. Abhishek had to say sorry to the paps for his expression.

Abhishek Bachchan further revealed in the interview about the parenting style he and his wife, Aishwaya, have towards their daughter, Aaradhya. He revealed that both of them focus on leading by example rather than traditional roles. Abhishek revealed that, in his home, as parents, he and Aishwarya try to be the best example for Aaradhya rather than telling her what is right and what is wrong. In his words:

"We believe in showing what to do by being that ourselves. It’s never been like, ‘Okay, I’ll teach her self-defence.’ If you’ve seen my wife, she can take care of herself. It’s never been divided like, ‘I’ll teach her self-defence, you teach her to be empathetic.’ No, it’s not that.”

Elaborating on the approach, the actor further added that parenting is simply about leading a good, responsible life with your values and morals. Your child sees that, emulates it, and in that way, you’ve equipped them. So there’s no competition at home about who has to be the man or who has to be the woman.

He revealed that when his parents got married, his mom, Jaya Bachchan, was a bigger star than his dad, so it was not an unnatural thing. Indirectly, he credited 'severe ego' for the success behind his relationship and said:

"It was always about a partnership. I have known Aishwarya from the start of my career. And the second film, I made, was with her. I say ego because I am not the kind of person who believes somebody else has to give up or stop running for me to win that race. And that is my mental structure. I don't want to be in a partnership or marriage where my wife has to stop doing something because I have to feel manly about myself. And thankfully, my wife is not someone who thinks like that either."
