Aamir Khan Says Pak Cricketer, Javed Miandad Ruined His Wedding With Reena, 'Shaadi Barbaad Kardi..'

Aamir Khan is known as 'Mr. Perfectionist' of Bollywood, with his meticulous performance in films. However, the actor has also grabbed many headlines with his personal life, especially his romantic relationships. Aamir has been married twice, and both of these marriages have ended in divorce. However, the actor still maintains a cordial bond with his ex-wives and has often talked about them. Recently, Aamir talked about his wedding with his first wife, Reena Datta and how it was ruined by Pakistani cricketer, Javed Miandad. 

Aamir Khan and Reena Datta got married secretly 

Aamir Khan and his first wife, Reena Datta, were neighbours and childhood sweethearts. However, the latter's parents objected to their love and made Reena promise to never meet Aamir. However, the couple did not want to part and decided to marry each other secretly. But Aamir was still not at the marriageable age, which was 21 for men. So they waited until he turned 21 on March 14, 2025. A few days later, Aamir and Reena tied the knot in a secret court marriage. 

Aamir Khan revealed that Javed Miandad ruined his wedding day 

Aamir and Reena had secretly left their respective homes to get married, so they were scared that their family would get suspicious of their absence. The actor said, "Mujhe laga sab puchenge kaha the itni der". However, on their wedding day, India was playing cricket against Pakistan, and everyone was glued to the TV screens, too busy to notice Aamir's absence. So, after coming back from his wedding, the newlywed groom also sat down with his family and started watching the match and got engrossed in it. India was winning the match, but then Pakistani batsman, Javed Miandad hit a six. Aamir said:

“It was India-Pakistan match day. The same match where Javed Miandad hit a six on the last ball. We were winning that match so nobody cared to ask us about our absence for so long. I too joined them and was watching cricket, however, Javed’s six ruined it all."

Aamir Khan then shared an anecdote when he met Javed Miandad in a flight. He jokingly accused the cricketer of ruining his wedding. When Javed asked him how is that possible, then Aamir told him that he went into 'depression' after he hit a six. Talking about his meeting with Javed, Aamir stated:

"Once I happened to meet him on the flight when I told him, ‘Javed bhai aapne theek nahi kiya. Aapne meri shadi barbaad kardi. He was like, ‘Kaise? I said, ‘Usi din aapne chakka mara tha. Depression mein chala gaya tha mai."

More about Reena Datta and Aamir Khan's secret wedding 

Eventually, after a few months, Reena and Aamir's family found out about their marriage. Upset with Reena, her parents cut ties with both of them. However, when her father suffered a heart attack, both families became closer. Later, Aamir's sister and Reena's brother also got married, which made the Khan and Datta families quite tight-knit. Aamir and Reena had married in 1986, and then 16 years later, finalised their divorce in 2002.
